Career 132 OPS+. There are 2 other guys who were primarily first basemen with a 132 career OPS+: Joe Harris and Mo Vaughn. Is that HOF material?

To be fair, there were about 5 years there in which it did look very much like Mo Vaughn might be on his way to the HOF. A lot more like a HOFer than Palmeiro ever felt. He did win an MVP, right?

Lets forget about steroids for the time being. Palmeiro was a good player for a long time. He was never a great player. he was never the top player at his position during his career. I doubt he was ever one of the top 5 players at any position. Very good but not a HoFamer

Lets say he didn't do PEDs. Just look at his numbers.

569 HRs (13th)
1800 RBIs (16th)
1600 Runs (32nd)
1300 BBs. In fact, more BBs than Ks.(33rd)
.885 OPS
3 GGs

Sure, he didn't have any magical years, but he was a consistent top run producer. If he had started playing 10 years earlier, he'd be first ballot.

look, you are entitled to think Palmeiro belongs in the hall, just as I am entitled to think he doesn't. Let's just agree to disagree. Doesn't really matter because I don't think either of us is ever going to have a vote.
