Okay, so if I'm correct and both those worlds (Tark & Phelan) are in the conference tournament phase (which the beta is prepping to start, making them the best frame of reference), here's how the Max/Avg matches up from the beta world for freshmen...
D1 -- Max 898, Avg. 584
D2 -- Max 661, Avg. 506
D3 -- Max 634, Avg. 465
...so through one season, the numbers look fairly similar for average ratings of the freshman class, other than the average of the beta D1 world is 14 and 24 points less than Phelan and Tark, respectively. Whether this is due to D1 getting worse recruits, differences in recruit generation between beta and "real" worlds or a function of D1 teams getting more walk-ons in beta due to increased competition (ETA: or other reasons) is unknown.
Caveats -- 1. I have no easy way of tracking the effect of redshirts and walk-ons with regard to their impact on the averages of the respective worlds. 2. I'm focusing specifically on the freshman class #'s because that's where the impact of the new recruiting system will be most pronounced and evident...it would be difficult to trace the effect of JUCO signings through the game and upper class comparisons are tainted by prior sim recruiting sessions and such. 3. I ignored Min ratings because I was unsure if those included random walk-ons generated.
It will be interesting to revisit this in another season or two after the newly recruited beta kids have had more chances to develop and see if the averages still hold true or if we see evidence of movement.
