Alexander close to roll, need 5 owners. Topic

We just wrapped up another World Series in World Alexander, and we're looking for five new owners to join us for next season. If you're interested just send me a sitemail and I'll put you on a list to get you a password as soon as I receive it. The available teams are as follows...

New York Caterpillars (W-L 94-68, 3rd place in NL North)- Led by big money men Ken Yearwood and Danys Perez, New York finished third in an extremely competitive NL North last season. Yearwood turned in another fine season at the dish by hitting .270 and leading the team with 30 HR and 101 RBI, and he's locked up for another two seasons. Perez was still very productive as well, posting a .276 average to go along with his 20/20 season. Juinor Herrmann and Ernest Thomas round out an extremely talented core of offensive players, which should see this team capable of winning a World Series any time within the next 2-3 seasons. Plus 20 million dollar man Jose Johnson is coming off the books, which should give you plenty of payroll to work with to add a few pieces if you should so choose.

The outgoing owner's assessment of the farm system though is that it's a bit thin, mainly on the pitching side. So the new owner may have to decide if it's best for them to sell off a piece or two from the Major League Club to try to replenish that. There's plenty of movable pieces on this team however. So whatever you decide you want to do, you should have a very easy time working with this franchise thanks to a very solid foundation left by the outgoing owner.

Houston Ducks (W-L 69-93, 3rd place in NL South)- Houston has some quality pieces on the club and thanks to the efforts of a new owner they saw a nice rebound this season from a dismal season 33. The farm system is however on the thin side. The team has some age. So really this team probably needs a dedicated owner wanting to sell off some assets and oversee a complete rebuild, though. If you enjoy that type of thing, this could be the club for you. There's some things here to work with.

Chicago Black Sox (W-L 59-103, 4th place in AL East)- If you love sluggers these Black Sox may interest you. Powerful rookies Jerome Karstens and Emmanuel Villar socked 51 and 39 homeruns respectively in their major league debuts. Karstens' showing was strong enough to land him in the R.O.Y. race. However their individual success didn't lead to team success, placing the Black Sox in the basement of the AL East. This is a team that's really in need of pitching to be competitive, and it showed. There's a little bit in the pipeline to go along with a high draft pick they'll be making this upcoming season, but you'll need to make some moves to improve the overall talent level of this team.

Colorado Springs Cadets (W-L 93-69, 2nd place in AL West)- Colorado Springs is STACKED with quality young pitching, with almost the entire staff under the age of 30. Not surprisingly they made an incredible run last season for the top of the division. This is a team that's basically ready made to be a contender the next few seasons, possibly only needing an offensive upgrade at a spot or two to really be a World Series threat. The previous owner made some good moves before disappearing last season- and given his history I elected not to rush to replace him, hoping he'd return. It doesn't look to be though so if you get in now you could potentially pick up a Championship or two along the way.

Honolulu Hawaii Whackers (W-L 62-100, 4th place in AL West)- Honolulu changed hands midseason last year, and the replacement owner did an outstanding job making some moves to better set up an incoming owner. There are presently only six players on the Major League team making more than a million dollars next season, so payroll should be relatively low. There's a young and growing pitching staff with promise, although it will probably need a strong anchor added at some point. The line up also has some really, really solid position players on the corners- but it's probably not playoff caliber just yet.

This is a club firmly in the middle of a rebuild, and it needs an owner willing to be patient enough to see it through. With the low payroll and high pick any new owner should be able to add a few quality pieces via the draft and IFA market. A couple of shrewd FA signings will probably even see this team climb out of the cellar as you continue to accumulate young talent.
