International Prospect Question 86 Proj Overall Topic

One of my scouts found a pitcher who is amazing. He has like 90+ stamina and 87+ everything else that matters. He is only an 86 projected overall and I think it's because his health is 94 but durability is only 25.

Would you still go aggressively at this pitcher or is 25 durability not usable? And if you WOULD go after him, how much bonus would you offer to get him?

Thanks!

25 durability for a starting pitcher is perfectly fine, especially when coupled with 90+ stamina. It's when you start falling into the teens that you have to be a little more concerned about lowering his pitch count.

In answer to your second question-- you will have to offer everything you can. If your scouts are not drunk off their *****, this guy will go for as much as anyone who can see him can transfer into prospect.

I don't have a 25/90 but I've got some 24-27/85-88. All throw between 210-240 innings per year and none have 87+ control/VR/VL. A guy like that will give you 250+ every year with an average D behind him.

Great advice guys, thanks so much! Last question; his velocity is projected for 43 and 1st pitch 99 2nd pitch 75 3rd pitch 44 4th pitch 48. Would you throw all 20 million at him? Keep in mind, I have the 4th overall draft selection this season as well.

More like 30, I'd say.

Unless you can get your prospect budget up to $35-$40 million, you probably aren't getting him. That's a first overall pick right there.

To your last question. Yes, throw all 20 at him. You probably won't get him, but no harm in putting it out there.

Your Int'l scouting budget and player payroll play into this too. If your IFA scouting budget is sub $10M and you don't have any additional funds in player payroll to sign draft picks then you should think twice about throwing $20M at him.

EDIT: Just noticed you signed him. Hopefully you saved enough to sign your draft picks. Based on his DUR it looks like your Int'l scouting isn't maxed. (That or they didn't fix the wide swings in durability like they said they were going to in the latest update)

I signed him for 24 million. Hopefully I didn't screw up.

My international isn't maxed but it's quite high. He is showing as a projected 83 for me, which means I will be lucky if he ends up 80. He is a 60 overall at 18 years old though which is VERY good, from my experience anyway.

Projected scores are as follows:

Durability - 22
Health - 99
Stamina - 90
Control - 94
vsL - 80
vsR - 80
Velocity - 37
Groundball/Flyball - 78
1st Pitch - 82
2nd Pitch - 74
3rd Pitch 56
4th Pitch 57

Just looked at his currents.

Durability - 15
Health - forgot to copy
Stamina - 77
Control - 64
vsL - 51
vsR - 56
Velocity - 37
Groundball/Flyball - 70
1st Pitch - 73
2nd Pitch - 58
3rd Pitch 41
4th Pitch 44

He'll fall a little short of projections, especially in control (think mid to high 80s) and VsL (low to mid 70s). This makes him an SP2 for a typical championship team, should make a few All-Star games. Not the mega-stud your INTL scouts thought they had but well worth the $24M and then some.

My ADV Scout budget is 14 or 15 Mil I think. You guys have been such gentlemen helping me out, I will try to get ONE more piece of advice from you. I have a few legit studs coming up and they are all in High A together. With this guy being a 60 overall and only 18, I think perhaps it would be cool to START him in HIGH A. Please let me know if he will not flourish as much if I start him in High A. Here are the other good players I have in High A, AND dedelman, perhaps the SP1 on that championship team Wendell Houston.

(SP) Wendell Houston - Projected 86 - 1st round 5th overall pick
(SP) Pedro Manuel - Projected 83 - International Prospect 24 Million
(RP) Russell Cust - Projected 82 - 2nd round 62nd Overall
(LF/3B) Warren Perez - Projected 85 - 1st Round 6th Overall pick
(LF/DH/1B) Vin Peguero - Projected 82 - International Prospect 14 Million Bonus

Wendell Houston Projections:

Durability - 30
Health - 68
Stamina - 92
Control - 92
vsL - 74
vsR - 88
Velocity - 85
Groundball/Flyball - 82
1st Pitch - 82
2nd Pitch - 71
3rd Pitch - 68
4th Pitch -45

Doesn't matter.

A player should be in the BL sometime in his 4th season.
RL-LoA-HiA
AA
AAA
AAA/BL

And, if you're smart, you will not bring 5 up in the same season. They'll hit arb together. They will hit FA-eligibility together. Gets tough to budget for that.

Awesome.

Great call too on staggering when to bring them up. I have included their ages below and can maybe bring them up based on their skill readiness and age.

(SP) Wendell Houston - 20
(SP) Pedro Manuel - 18
(RP) Russell Cust - 21
(LF/3B) Warren Perez - 19
(LF/DH/1B) Vin Peguero - 19
