I wonder if in the future tzen could add a feature to the standings that shows recent movement, gaining or falling back...perhaps a last 60 games?

I will do that with my update at the 54-game mark.

Picked up my first schwarze in the am games today. My win total matches my pythag expectation perfectly (diff is 0.0), and I'm the only owner to do that, so I guess I haven't had good or bad luck. On the other hand, my divisions are 7th toughest, with a .531 win pct., so I'll complain about that.

His 21 Ruth isn't even the worst one in that league... mine is:

.203/.351/.324/.675 in 225 PAs (with Target Field being his home park). Huge disparity in how the exact same batters are performing.

My 32 Jimmie Foxx is almost as bad going .212/.298/.429/.727 in 208 PAs (RL .364/.469/.749/1.218 OPS)

I do think that luck plays more of a roll in higher cap leagues. For those who used to play Strat-O-Matic, you remember when you used to play an all-star game. Whomever rolled the 1, 2, or 3 (which pulls the result off the batter's card) more frequently than 4, 5, 6 (which pulls the result of the pitcher's card) usually won the game

Luck plays a factor in player performance due to the level of competition (and a smaller usable player pool), but high caps are all about mitigating that risk, in my opinion. It's why you have guys like elbirdo who consistently win at a .600 clip over hundreds of (exclusively high cap) seasons. There is a method to the madness
8/18/2016 5:20 PM (edited)
When you say elbirdo wins at high cap leagues, what salary caps are you referring to as high? Some people consider 120M to be high. I'm referring to super high caps (180M and up) where you can draft almost anybody you want.
8/18/2016 5:12 PM
I've never seen him in a league under 180M (at least since I came back to the site two years ago). Maybe 160 once, years ago?
8/18/2016 5:19 PM (edited)
Wow - I guess that's why I don't remember being in many leagues with him.
8/18/2016 6:08 PM
On a bad run lately, hopefully that straightens out on this stretch of division games coming up!!!
