Schmidt/Carlton Phillies (going into 1981) Topic

Edit: we're currently in the first round of 1981 draft, and need a replacement owner for the Phillies. The franchise has Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Greg Luzinski, Lonnie Smith... lots of good players, I'll post the full roster below. Via the Phillies farm system, they'll get rookies Bob Dernier and Ozzie Virgil in 1982, Juan Samuel and Kevin Gross in 1983 (among others). Site mail me if interested.

-----previous post:

We're currently in the 1980 season, ending in mid-September, for the Franchise With Farm System progressive. We will need new owners for the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles starting with the 1981 season. The basic concept is that the franchises started with their 1977 rosters, and add the rookies who come up with that franchise each year. So the Orioles get Ripken, Boddicker, and Storm Davis in 1982. The Reds get Eric Davis, Barry Larkin, etc. down the road, and still have Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, George Foster along with Mario Soto.

Both these franchises belonged to owners who originally covered two teams, and are ready to cut back to one. They are not leaving the league.

Sitemail me if you're interested, I'll give you all the details on league rules. If you take the team before our current season ends, you can start negotiating trades that would take effect after the season.

The Cincinnati Reds have a lot of strengths on their roster: Soto, Rose, Foster, etc. They'll get guys like Eric Davis and Barry Larkin as rookies when the time comes.

They will need a little help at catcher and one outfield position, but have trade bait at 2B and on the pitching staff. There will also be the post-season draft to fill holes.

Don Hood, Dale Murray, Manny Sarmiento, and Jerry Turner belong to the Reds on Injured Reserve for 1981.

OF Jim Wohlford and Champ Summers also belong to the Reds, but there is a limit of 25 keepers before the draft. You could keep one or both of those guys, but would have to cut someone else from the list above. (After the draft, you'll have more than 25 players to split between majors and AAA.)

Baltimore Orioles have a solid lineup, more than enough starting pitchers, and Ripken, Boddicker, and Storm Davis on the way in 1982. So you'll probably want to trade a starting pitcher or two, just to bulk up elsewhere:
