Here's a review of the available franchise:
Oakland finished 58-104 last season dead last in their division. Ownership has been stable having been under the same leadership for 6 seasons. However things have languished under .500 in each of those years. The offense is lead by Augie Lui (24, 80, .273) & Norberto Palacios (24, 52, .253), while they'd be fine supporting players the offense can use some upgrading. On the mound, 5 hurlers had double digit losses while only one pitcher reached 10 wins. Sam Sheets with 19 saves and a 1.96 ERA had a good year and pen mate Javier Andino (11 saves, 3.75) also chipped in.
There is some talent in the MiL but additional talent needs to be brought in to transform this franchise into a winner. A newbie would be able to cut his teeth on this team if he's looking to learn the game and has patience during the growing pains. A vet would have the opportunity to build this as he pleases, however he too would need to be patient as the influx of new talent builds this franchise into a winner.
