I loosely defined key wins as Top 25ish (WIS Rank). Pitt is just a little below. A win over Syracuse would do a lot of good for you!

I also felt weird attributing a win over Stanford as a key win. but I guess we do have a nice WIS ranking.

Meant to get an update in last night, but didn't happen. I will try today. The top of DIA is tough to reconcile but maybe the CC games will help.

A little late - still very hard to reconcile in both divisions, because so many teams ended up in these "mini-conferences" where Team A beat Team B, but Team B beat Team C and Team C beat Team A, etc. Anyway, here is what I came up with!

DIA (Key Wins in parentheses)

10. Miami (Virginia Tech, Virginia, Boston College)
9. Middle Tennessee (Navy)
8. Tennessee (Syracuse, Alabama, Florida)
7. Washington (Stanford)
6. USC (Florida, Tennessee, Nebraska)
5. Stanford (USC, Washington)
4. Ohio State (Boston College, Penn State)
3. Penn State (Notre Dame, Alabama, Northern Illinois)
2. Notre Dame (Stanford, LSU, Miami, Ohio State)
1. Texas (Notre Dame, Louisville, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Washington)

DIAA

10. Howard (Duquesne)
9. Southeast Missouri (Northeastern, Appalachian State, Jacksonville State)
8. Eastern Illinois (Howard, Southeast Missouri)
7. Liberty (Texas Southern, Southeast Missouri)
6. Duquesne (Howard, Texas Southern, Norfolk State)
5. Eastern Kentucky (Jacksonville State, Southeast Missouri)
4. Youngstown State (Liberty, Maine)
3. Sacred Heart (Tennessee Tech)
2. Drake (Sacred Heart, Eastern Illinois, Dayton)
1. Tennessee Tech (Drake, Southeast Missouri, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Illinois)

So Stanford beat USC and won the PAC-10 but gets left out of title game in favor of USC. Ouch.

The first loss to Washington did us in. If we had won that game it might have been interesting.
