This game can be so mind-numbing. In the 100M league I start 1907 Bill Duggleby with every intention of giving up the game. The guy throws six shutout innings and we win 2-1. Meanwhile, in the 110M league Ed Walsh loses again to start the season 0-4 (but does manage to lower his ERA to 5.47)!
I fully expect to have to start 200K K.Coffman at some point in this tournament, and I fully expect him to pitch a gem. It always happens. It's almost like if save a 200K pitcher and pitch him later in the year, he's like the opposite of fatigued... he's superhuman and overachieves. usually only once though.
When I first read your post, I immediately checked to see if that Duggleby start was against me. (It wasn't).
