Interesting pick and take on the pick round these parts, so far.
At 1st I reacted very negatively......... for many of the same non-specific reasons that Dahs cited. She IS just so ambitious.
But, after musing on it for awhile, and considering some of the downsides of the other choices/possibilities, and conceding to myself that my personal favorite wasn't gonna get picked I came around to the position that it's a pretty solid pick.
Appeals to BOTH factions within the party. The factions with some real strength. Maybe not so much with the fringe.
Plus, I think it's a smart signal of Biden's to the "colored's" and the BLM folks, etc. I (personally) would have preferred a Latina because it would really help win States like mine (AZ) or NM/TX but at the end of things Harris appeals to the "have not" crowd and IF they vote that will be huge.
So, bottom line for me is, (what with Biden stating he's only gonna serve one term) that I kinda like the pick. I think Harris has the hutzpa to speak up to Biden on pertinent issues like race, and economic disadvantages (of all basis--like poor rural for example) AND I think he likes and respects her enough to listen.
Then, I just hope that some other Democrat comes out of nowhere to take the nomination in 2024.
But, we do miss out on Mayor Bottoms though.
My personal favorite was/is the Gov. of NM. (That would have allowed me to vote for a NM Governor 2 elections in a row! lol)
But I gotta admit, I'll definitely miss out on trying to make my "Bottoms Up" campaign slogan go national.
I was already working on the graphics.
I sent Mayor Bottoms an e-mail and asked her if she'd sit on her copy machine, hit print and send me a copy.
No word back yet!
