if Marcus Camby takes 5 shots and makes 2 or 3 of them (while adding a soupcon of assist mojo to the overall team) and DJ takes 5 shots and makes 3 or 4 of them and both are board lords who play elite defense w/o the plague of fouling too much and one costs 7.7m for 34 mpg and one costs 5.8m for 29 mpg won't someone think about the children?
I definitely used to be of this opinion - but I'm warming up to the impact the a player who shoots that well can have.

If I take my lineup and pull out Dampier and put in Camby - the team has eFG 55.15 and TS 58.77. With DeAndre it's 57.86 and 62.53. Numbers can vary a little based on team usage, but that's a pretty big difference.

In a 47M cap and for the other reasons you mentioned Camby is the better pick. I just get the shooting part for some teams.

Even after adding one more guard, Love is still playing all his minutes at PG/SG. I thought about slotting McHale in at SF... maybe should have done it but now I have Chriss and Henson, both of whom provide boards at the 3 with at least 98% efficiency. My reasoning was that McHale has to spend most of his time backing up Robinson's usage at C anyways, so might as well just take the best McHale season as long as I could afford it, and as long as I got respectable boards at the 3 it didn't matter too much.

Not all of the numbers compare favorably to past squads, but I'm really looking forward to putting this team out there.
