Who rates the quality of posts?

I just noticed some ratings in a thread I started.

Do you need to get good ratings to be an H of F poster?

I think it's just other forum users. I'm not sure how many people use them, but I try to use them for posts that I legitimately like. I don't know if they're necessary to be a HoF poster or anything but I figure that maybe it will help people get recognized for doing good work

I just ordered a good rating for your post, and was advised that I have only two ratings left for today.

And I don't see any sign of a good rating showing.... so?

you get 5 ratings a day and you can't rate your own. that's about all i know.

Hey, those were my bad ratings in your other thread, ha ha.  I guess the critics didn't appreciate the nuance I brought to the table, and thought perhaps that I overplayed the John McGraw card and should have focused more on developing the minor characters in my post.  Also, the dénouement was weak.

I think once you rate a post, then the stars show up (but all 5 are still white). Maybe if another person rates you, then it goes up to 1 star?

I honestly have no idea. I just gave you a thumbs up and I have 3 remaining for the day. I guess it's just because I am that cool
