I think we determined that plenty of teams do that already and it would probably be too easy.  I wouldn't be opposed to a team with a maximum PER of like 20 or something like that.

hm. okay anything else open besides just C?

I think there's a long list somewhere earlier in the thread, but if you want to create a new one that's cool too.

dwoe, here is the list again:

Ok - so I culled the list, reorganized the previous suggestions and edited out duplicates. Here are the ideas proposed so far, in alpha order...

1. Any specific offense/defenseive combo.
2. Everyone must be set to "+2."
3. Everyone must be set to a plus two three setting, all defenses to a minus five setting.  In an uptempo Press. . . .
4. FT shooters must be an F.
5. One division all bigs, the other all guards?  Or if you want a LITTLE more flexibility, allow both to have SF's.
6. Players all must be defined as "head cases."
7. Practice no O or D.
8. Recruit foreign born players.
9. Recruit from  players with the 12 most common consonants
10.Recruit from one designated state.
11.Recruit guys with porn names.  Example (from Tark d3 recruiting pool): Jeffrey Kummer.
12.Recruit Low post below 20"
13.Recruit No bigs"(Noone with the PF or C designation may be recruited)
14.Recruit only players below a 5 durability (this number is negotiable, but I think it should probably be 3 or 5).
15.Recruit only players with Work Ethic below 10.
16.Recruit PFs.
17.Recruit players with first and last name start with the same letter
18.Recruit players with last names from A-M
19.Recruit rebounding below thirty'.
20.Recruit SFs.
21.Recruit SGs.
22.Recruit someone who comes from a Private/Religious affiliated HS.
23.Run a fast break/Press uptempo. (-5?)
24.Run a plus five or minus five defense all season.
25.Run slowdown.
26.Shoot ZERO three-pointers (obviously last minute heaves can't count against).
27.Starters average over 35 minutes per game.

Some of those are better than others. Some are too easy. I guess it'll really be up to personal opinion though.

I think it'd be cool if someone had a team that practiced no O or D at all. I'd be kinda interested in that result.

well could i do rebounding >30 + -5/+5 every game?
9/6/2010 9:37 PM
As long as there is a well defined, major handicap then I have no problem.  Just running a +5 or -5 would be too easy.  There have been coaches who have won Championships using that strategy.  I would think either the +5 or -5 would need to be decided upon and could not be changed from game to game.  As far as REB below 30, perhaps you could recruit any player you wanted but would not be allowed to ever practice rebounding.  Now that coupled with a permament +5 would really be a hoot.  Whatever the group consensus is, I'll go with.

It's too bad somebody doesn't do a detrimentally prohibited practice type of handicap.  Having a team that is not allowed to practice conditioning or a team that is not allowed to practice shooting (PER/LP) would be very entertaining.  Either they would be the greatest shooters with no athleticism, speed and stamina or it would be a team of Olympians that coundn't hit the broad side of the barn. lol.

What about a team that ISN'T ALLOWED TO PRACTICE. Like they could put 25 min into practicing O\D, but NO skill development whatsoever.

EDIT: they could put all 130 min into O/D.

We can start a new thread in the phelan forum as soon as the season starts, tracking our progress, talking about what is easy/hard about it, etc.

so, like I said I had the 65 RPI thing going - then I got to the CT and decided to try an experiment against a crappy sim I'd just beat by a ton (370 something RPI) in the 1st rd. I wanted to see how much playing a whole game would impact a player, so I cleared out the depth chart behind my best stamina player and gave him lots of distro to see how much he'd score...we lost the game. RPI now in the 80s, and NT dreams dashed...I just wanted the $3 credit...lol
