PACKERS: Datone Jones is latest DL bust drafted Topic

St. Louis linebacker Brandon Chillar has accepted a two-year, $5.2M offer from the Packers. He will challenge Brady Poppinga for the starting job at OLB.
Somewhat strangely (to me), the Packers recently approached Poppinga's agent about doing a long-term extension.

He must be a good ST player, the Raven's FO loves signing them.

The Packers are in love with ST players also.. I don't recall seeing Walker much on ST but I'm sure he was out there.

Quinn Gray signed a one-year deal with Houston for about $650K; apparently the Packers weren't too impressed with him or they would have made a better offer.

Probably didn't have enough cap room to squeeze Gray in, you know TT, he is a free spender.

Make that Exec of the Year and free spender.

Brett has not yet filed his retirement papers with the league, denying TT the additional $11M in cap room that will come to him.

I wonder how many times TT has faxed the retirement papers to Favre with a little "sign me" note attached. I'm guessing once a day... since 2006.

Ancient long snapper Rob Davis announces his retirement; the Packers had previously indicated that there would be a front office job for him as director of player development. Davis played in 167 games during his 11 years with the club, third in franchise history.

I'm sure he can spot star long snappers from a mile away. Good move putting him in charge of player development!!!

The Packers will open the 2008 season on Monday Night Football against Minnesota.

Luckily they didn't give that game to Madden and company on SNF. Endless talk of the great Bret Farve!

Oh, there will still be endless talk of the great Brett Favre.

The Great Brett Favre's number might be retired that day.
4/1/2008 9:34 AM
For everyone's sake, I hope the Packers do decent this year so people arent trying to talk Favre into coming back.
