This is going to be very interesting to see how some teams, and even more interesting, how some players do. All the big guns have been blacklisted, yet most of the elite support players were still available. Problem is you cant build around the Barry's and the Mutombo's because they don't have the usage to be center pieces. So you have a whole new batch of players that finally get their chance to shine in a draft league. I can't wait to see who steps up as a star and who sh*ts the bed. Also, will defense matter now that so few players actually have good defense, giving those teams that have those players an advantage? I sure hope not.
As always, don't take it personal since I will be wrong about a lot of stuff and remember I always favor offense over defense.
malone9975 - Neil Johnston, Dirk Nowitzki, Maurice Cheeks, Julius Erving, Jon Barry, K. Humphries, R. Patterson
- Feel free to kill you? Why? You have a dominant pair of forwards with Dr. J making up for the lack of boards from Dirk and Dirk making up for the lack of 3s from Dr. J. Hell, I'd say Dr. J is the front-runner for league MVP. You couldn't have done better than Cheeks with the 23rd pg pick and Barry(3s)/Patterson(oreb) compliment the stud forwards nicely. Humphries is an elite(maybe the best?) LMBL who everyone would looove to have. So what am I missing here? Oh yea....the starting center. Lets see...Neil Johnston? Huh? Ok, well he's a solid rebounder right? 7.5/18...yikes. Ok well I guess he was a cost cutter who will stay out of the way on offense right? 23% usg and 44% efg...nope hes a black hole. Ohhh ok now I get it malone, and yes, I have to kill you for the Johnston pick. Not only that but I have to kill you for doing Dirk dirty like that. The guy is a stud and one of the best closers in the sim and you bench his *** and use a lower minute season that doesnt have many 3s at all. I don't get it. Still, theres a lot of talent on this team so I wouldn't be surprised to see you in the playoffs.
vancem - Arvydas Sabonis, Carlos Boozer, Eric Murdock, Peja Stojakovic, Nate McMillian, Muersan, J. Nelson
- Lets get the bad stuff out of the way so I can drool over the offensive potential of this team. You called it, this team has waaaaay too many fouls. Most likely the worst in the league at fouling(my team may challenge that tho). But what I think is even worse than the fouls is one of my new pet peeves. PEJA IS A SG!!!!! PLAY HIM THERE! The guy is now 99% at sg and he never had the boards to play sf to begin with, so why keep playing him at sf? Your backcourt is pretty weak on the glass so now there is a lot of pressure on the pf/c to keep you competitive on the glass, could be a problem. But wow, this teams efg% is siiiick. Nelson is the best backup pg in the sim and was a great pick to pair with Murdock, your weakest player. Muresan/Boozer/Sabonis is a scary offensive combo that gives no breaks to any team with one strong frontcourt defender and one weak one. Peja is one of(maybe the best?) the premier bombers and will punish any teams cheating with inside help. This team will have no problem scoring the ball, but will it score enough to overcome the other teams advantage on the glass and at the line?
felonius - Billy Paultz, Buck Williams, Darrell Armstrong, Scottie Pippen, Landry Fields, J. Noah, Q. Richardson,
- I like that you took probably the best players available with your top picks. Pippen and Buck are standard 2nd/3rd round picks who usually end up being the 2nd/3rd best player on a team. Now they get the chance to be the big dogs on a team. Buck gets a nice frontcourt partner in Paultz. And although he only adds to Buck's high fl/to numbers he was a good pick for where you got him. Armstrong was a surprise, I don't ever remember seeing him before. I have mixed feelings on him as I don't know which season you will use. His high ast%/good defense year is almost unusable with all those turnovers. Overall, the first 4 players are good but really not that scary. It's the final 3 role players that make this a verrry solid squad. Noah should be well known by now as an elite LMBL and Fields is gonna be used more and more as high dreb% with high% 3s is always in high demand. Q does more of the same thing. Both these guys push the team over the edge in boards and 3s. Always a good thing.
bluenote75 - Rich Kelley, Zach Randolph, Stephen Curry, Grant Hill, TR Dunn, Bob Sura, Roy Tarpley
- I'm a big fan of Z-Bo, but I hope you're not expecting to get the same kind of production out of him you're getting in the 10-11 league. The teams in that league are muuuch weaker(you know..like my crappy team). Kelley is going to be a fun guy to watch. He has all the tools to be great but he's got some brutal turnover and foul numbers. Curry and Tarpley are in the same boat with the fouls/turnovers. I know you needed his ast% but I'm not sure you needed the extra usg% from Sura(not to mention his fls/tos). If this team goes up-tempo I feel confident in saying you will lead the league in turnovers. But the main reason I think this will be a team looking up in the standings all year is the teams best player is Grant Hill. He is a sim loser and I don't see this team changing that.
amerk1180 - Dave Cowens, Kevin McHale, Derek Harper, Gerald Wallace, George Gervin, Dell Curry, A. Morrow
- Let me start off by saying how much I loved the Wallace pick. You had a ton of options with that pick so Wallace wasn't all that obvious. Im guessing you'll use his best season, you know, the one that isn't all that different from a good Shawn Marion season(and Marion would have went 1st or 2nd). He pairs nicely with McHale, who I still can't believe wasn't drafter in the master blaster draft. I know he's weak on the boards(strong if he plays sf...which he can) but few guys can shoot that well from the field(and hes solid at the line). Cowens was a solid late round pick, very nice ast% and dreb%. Haprer could have gone a few picks earlier in the pg round, he pretty much does it all besides boards. The last three picks confuse the hell outa me though. You were still a little short on boards and could have pushed mchale to sf and wallace to sg for some extra big man minutes. Instead you did the opposite and added three guards. WTF? Why Gervin? Why not let McHale and his awesome shooting %s be your #1 scoring option? There's a chance you might get crushed on the boards....and you know what that means.
slymonium - Erick Dampier, Gus Johnson, Terrell Brandon, Elgin Baylor, Jason Terry, S. Dalembert, A. Carter
- Gonna have to change my mind on the front-runner for MVP. It's gotta be Baylor(if sly uses his big boy season). I've been a Baylor hater for awhile but its getting tougher, the guy is a force. Sly wisely jumped on Dampier at the end of the center round knowing he could get scoring elsewhere. Damp, Sammy D and Gus Johnson(who? look him up...surprised the hell outa me with his amazing defense and rebounding numbers....his offense is ugly though) will do their thing cleaning up Baylor's misses. After what Brandon did for appleseed in the bowis draft I thought he would go higher in this draft. He was a steal at #13 and should thrive as Baylor's sidekick in this offense. All that's left is the bomber at sg. Most of the good ones were gone by your pick so Terry was a nice pick, he adds some dimes too. Normally I'd hate on this team for riding Baylor but I'm not making that mistake anymore. This team should be great on the glass and with the leagues MVP as well, that should mean playoffs.
wow...this took longer then i thought...gotta go watch dirk hopefully dominate....ill get to the rest of em later
