WPORTAL - MIA

one of the true pioneers.....he launched on 3/31/2002..
he has a sparkling dossier....he played only 283 seasons through 2009 and yet went to the playoffs 203 times which
comes to a % of 72.4......incredible...had 39 championships in 63 finals....
.581 regular season and .537 playoff %.
forum record is scarce.....could only find some ill play and ill join comments.
a man of few words.....his favorite university was california...fav color is unknown.
he is highly deserving of his induction.

When I first joined in 2007, JohnGPF was the resident guru and more importantly freely offered his knowledge. He knew the details of the WIS SIM engine as good as anyone and wrote many useful articles on the site about detailed ways of getting around any constraints and giving helpful tips. He was a walking encyclopedia back in the day and was very active with his personal time spent on the forums answering newbies questions. Then, as has been mentioned he suddenly disappeared? Didn't taper off, didn't announce any retirement, just stopped posting. Some said Hurricane Katrina took his life but others said he had enough and just vanished into the shadows. I lean toward him meeting an untimely demise event rather than just walking away...but not sure if anyone knows for sure what happened to him. He was missed then and still is.

PFATTKATT had a serious blood disorder and openly discussed his health issues in the forums and via site mails. His ill health went on for several months if not years. He appeared to beat it several times, put it into remission a few times, but in the end it came back with a vengeance and caught up to him. He played in many of my leagues. I used to give him any free games that I could as he was hospital bound near the end but still enjoyed playing WIS. He was very appreciative of any help and support he could get. It was very sad seeing someone gradually pass who you didn't know personally but felt attached to thru WIS. He was very matter of fact about his terminal disease and appeared outwardly accepting of his fate. The ultimate lesson we could all use in life.

The other names on your list looks like a who's who in WIS back in the day. Many champions ...and most played in my early leagues.

JohnGPF did NOT die around the time he left the site. A friend of his from HBD told me he was fine and just decided to move on from WIS. Who knows what has happened in the years since then, but John didn't leave WIS due to death.
