The great Irish ballad singer Christy Moore. I recommend going to Youtube and clicking on "The Early Years: 1969-81", the whole album is great.

My favorites:

The City of Chicago
Nancy Spain
The Little Musgrave
Finnegan's Ball ("six fine months I spent in Dub-a-lin, six fine months doin' nothin' at all..)
and especially The Boys of Mullabawn

The man can tell a story.

Nice. He has the same mannerisms when he lifts his head up. Three generations.

The great rising star in the jazz / pop vocalist arena i referred to is Veronica Swift.
Among a few others she has been compared to Anita O Day. If anyone around here knows who Anita O Day is you should check out her 2019 and 2021 albums.
Confessions from 2019 won just about every major Jazz award for vocals and 2021 This Bitter Earth will do the same.

in terms of stature in the genre she is now the new princess taking up the mantle from Diana Krall.

I heard 3 songs from her 2021 album - Daddy’s Home.
very cool stuff and does she have such a sexy vocal delivery.
this album is sure to be a top 15 albums on many year end lists.
make room for daddy.

Perhaps because I've been listening to St. Vincent for two days straight, Amazon Music recommended Caroline Rose. Equally fantastic!

A couple of coming albums to keep on your radar.

1. new album by Sleater Kinney - heard one song and if representative this album will be fantastic.

2. Noods - Blush - the first full album by Noods after a 2017 ep. I say get on this bandwagon. The female lead singer reminds me of Zooey Daschnel. The new album will be good and an indie darling. They are not yet great but as they hit their stride there is potential for really great music. Very poppy jingle jangle. An up and coming band.

Rock and Roll 2021 hall of fame

congrats to all the inductees but if I’m voting I’m not leaving out the New York Dolls but putting in Foo Fighters and The Go Gos. I would have put in the Dolls and Devo.

The R & R hall of Fame is a complete joke anyways. Who cares about it anymore?

It is nice that Todd Rundgren got in but even though he has some really great songs he was very borderline for me.

The Blacklist is coming to a season end soon.
A lot of us have been in the Redarina camp for a while...I’m in that camp. Nothing recent dissuades from that point of view. I don’t think it is a red herring.
I hope we get the answer this season.
big tootsie finish.

Listening to my 5+ hour Bob Dylan playlist on Spotify on this beautiful holiday Monday in Canada. Happy 80th birthday to the song and dance man!
