This year,
17 of the top 24 ranked owners are in the top 30 at the 5/6 mark of the season

Last year,
18 of the top 24 ranked owners were in the top 30 at the 5/6 mark of the season

Two years ago,
19 of the top 24 ranked owners were in the top 30 at the 5/6 mark of the season

Are we really at the 5/6 mark already?

Not yet (5/6 mark happens at the 135 game mark).

This is beyond ridiculous...

Fourth place overall?

11-1 in the last 2 cycles, teams finally showing a pulse(s). 35th overall, .540. Getting to .the .550's and the top 24 still looks like climbing the Lhotse Face.

Thru 125 games, jfranco77 is the highest ranked former champion at #7, 18 games back of Nebhusker (prerank #54). Brianjw is the next highest ranked former champion at #15, 24 games back. The odds of another first time champion seem pretty good right now.

Round 2 is a lot tougher and is weighted more (double round 1). Once we get midway through round 2, the round 1 final rankings will seem like statistical noise.

This is undoubtedly true, just commenting on the remarkable results so far.

Yes, plenty of time for me to get put in my place...if I even get to that point...
I'd say your odds of making it to Round 2 are extremely good at this point, considering the playoffs aren't weighted as heavily under the current scoring system as in prior years.

.548 is current cutoff, 29 to go.

I do believe Magoo is driving our team bus. A wonder we haven't crashed yet.

A Mauch was not a great way to start today off. I'm in a pretty comfortable spot tied for 6th, but I'm worried that only 3 of my teams are in a good playoff spot, with one other barely hanging onto one and two that are a few games back. Getting only 3 teams into the playoffs won't help if I slip back a bit down the stretch.

Can someone explain how the playoffs are scored and how they were scored in the past? I'm just curious

I believe under new rules, you get a point for each win and 5 points for winning a WS. In the past, you got 5 points for each playoff series won.
