I'm having fun with this draft. 3s will be a problem, and possibly efg and maybe fouls and assists. But my starters will be running up into the stands looking for extra people to defend.

Nice. Is Faried starting?
7/18/2020 12:31 PM
yep - at least that's plan a - meet me back here for plans f, g, h et al
7/18/2020 12:33 PM
I still get to draft 16ish mpg playable minutes - at about 18200 now (especially considering I'm going to throw away about 2mpg of O'Quinn)
7/18/2020 12:37 PM
True. Efficiency is really nice. I have come to love 17-18 Lowry - look at that DReb% and 3PM! Maybe a little TO heavy but overall nicely done
7/18/2020 12:38 PM
seems like Stockton and A-Train do have some TOV issues for sure - the other guys not as much - honestly I have no idea what Gilmore's TOV is - there isn't one on BBallref and I'm too lazy to do the math

So here's what I'm working with:
Name Team Pos Usage% eFG% OReb% DReb% Ast% Stl% Blk% Def
Larry Bird 87-88 Celtics SF 30.2 55.6 4.4 21.1 17.3 1.8 1.0 64
Scottie Pippen 94-95 Bulls SF 26.3 52.2 6.5 17.6 16.9 3.5 1.8 96
Horace Grant 91-92 Bulls PF 15.5 57.8 13.5 17.1 8.3 1.5 2.6 78
Brent Barry 01-02 SuperSonics SG 16.2 61.1 2.1 13.7 17.8 2.2 0.7 63
Pau Gasol 09-10 Lakers PF 21.5 53.6 10.7 21.4 11.4 0.7 2.7 69
John Collins 17-18 Hawks PF 17.9 59.1 10.0 21.4 6.9 1.2 2.5 64
Vince Carter 12-13 Mavericks SG 23.2 53.0 3.0 13.8 11.6 1.6 1.2 66

For the second straight year, I've drafted a lot more of my minutes than usual (this is about 18100 minutes right here) and things are actually kinda tight on salary. This is also like my team last year in that the defense has few weak spots but not many guys over 80, either. It worked out last year, and hopefully does this year.

The two guys I was agonizing over in the 5th were Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Bynum's 55% efg, $7.1 mil season doesn't get nearly enough respect in this league - I think he should be a 4th round pick - but it was more usage than I needed and was gonna leave me tighter on salary. I was gonna take him anyway to use his 1500-minute season to back up Gasol, then he got snapped up right in front of me.

I like this team a lot. I may dip into the individual penalty when Gasol and Bird sit together, but hopefully that's for minimal minutes. (I could even theoretically start Collins over Gasol if I think that might be an issue.) Plenty of threes, good efg%, low fouls and turnovers. Hoping this is a 50-win team.

imho more 57%+ efg usage than I can use is none

I don't know that I remember a 52 or ODL draft when every pick I got one of the options I wanted. Not saying this team will dominate, but at ever spot I had an idea for the type of player I wanted or a need and I never had to compromise. Probably means my logic is flawed, we'll see. While light on rebounds, early on I liked the idea of pairing Robinson with Amare. With Marques over 30 creb and Kidd doing his share, I hope to at least break even on the boards. Good D around Amare, enough passing, some 3's. Frazier is a question. I never have gone in that direction before. I usually go big assists or 3's. Was tempted to put a better offensive player next to Kidd, but I don't see how a team with Amare and another bad defender wins in this league. Solid reb, assists, shooting with 90 D. We'll see.

"...but I don't see how a team with Amare and another bad defender wins in this league."

I think you're absolutely right an that has been one of my problems. Don't know if Lucas was the right pick for me in the 5th. Sometimes you grab a guy who maybe should have gone earlier (if not quite a steal) because and he's "close enough" to what you're looking for. Don't know if Lucas was the right pick for me (Wilt/Lucas/George/Drexler/Nash) but now I have to seriously think about going with the 73D Lucas and get more rebounds later.

PG: Kyrie Irving, ——, Goran Dragic
SG: Andre Iguodala, ——, Goran Dragic

I got most of the players I wanted, idk if that’s a good thing though.
