Have you seen a player on the 15-day DL get two injury recoveries before (if left there long enough)?
I have not. Has to be the 60.

My next qurstion. I’m curious to see what everyone says (especially Damag) what the heck changed with my SD team from season 48 to 49? I legit thought we were going to get better. Now, i’ll Be lucky to win 70 games and I have no idea why.

Season 49 you scored 622 runs and gave up 611, Season 48 you scored 536 and gave up 559. You cannot score less then you give up on a regular basis and expect to win.

My Amateur Draft pick just signed. But before he signed he wanted a MLB contract. I thought that meant I was forced, when he signed, to assign him to the Major League team? Now that he signed I am able to assign him to a minor league tram. Will this hurt his progression? Also, he is MLB ready now, if he starts in the Majors will that hurt his progression?

You can put him any were you want. Putting him in the majors will not hurt his progression. Putting him in the minors will not hurt him either. The key is playing him. Id have no issue playing a 19 yr old in the ml if he is the best option I have at winning. My best coaches are in the majors.

Thanks so much for answering me.

I’ve seen it recommended to wait to promote a player until after 20 games into the ML season. Can anyone help with that this accomplishes? (Or maybe I misremember advice I’ve seen before)

It saves a year of service time. It gives you an extra season with them in the Big Leagues before they hit arbitration.

Hockey - I think the better question is why did you win 95 in S48.
Your offense has been virtually identical for the last 4 seasons - with the exception of runs.
Offense avg obp slg OPS Runs
S46 - 78 wins .244 .307 .370 .677 658
S47 - 73 wins .241 .300 .340 .640 564
S48 - 95 wins .251 .314 .359 .673 622
S49 - 59 (and counting) .244 .311 .361 .672 539

Likewise your pitching and defense have been virtually identical.
Defense SLG vs. WHIP FLD % RNG Runs Allow
S46 .368 1.28 .985 4.11 665
S47 .370 1.22 .987 4.05 597
S48 .367 1.22 .986 4.09 611
S49 .375 1.26 .985 4.06 568
Pythag Expected Win % (actual)
S46 .495 (.481)
S47 .472 (.451)
S48 .509 (.586)
S49 .474 (.404)

Really, your team massively overachieved in S48 and is getting unlucky this year.

Hey, Loudawg10. How is playing in Albuquerque? I would think that signing/recruiting guys with high contact rates would be an inefficiency to take advantage of playing in that stadium. Usually many of those high contact guys can be found late in free agency because many owners devalue contact.

How have you built your team there?

Looking over the numbers I think you hit the nail on the head. I didn’t realize I was something crazy like 37-14 in one run games in season 48. That is almost unheard of. The funny think is I think it is evening out this season because my 1 run game record is almost a complete flip flop.

Couldn't quite think of why you wanted my opinion in particular, but I think the fact that you did means you sort of knew the answer.

Thank you to loudawg10 for his astute analysis.

hockey1984 and I play a too-similar style... pitching and defense, just enough offense to frustrate "better" teams LOL. It's a tightrope. And as I have stated elsewhere, I think this game allows for wider sets of results than we think it does or should. This season could simply be that you had one of those "crater" seasons I've been expecting, where all your trends hit downward at the same time. If you go look at my Portland team this same season you'll see three, four players having their best seasons at the same time. Might be the only difference between our teams.

I play a good amount of fantasy baseball. And things fantasy "experts" always harp on is whether a player's performance are driven by high or low BABIP (batting average on balls in play), or a pitcher high or low LOB (left on base). Those are stats which can show you, to an extent, how just plain lucky a player is getting, and they normalize over time.

Mostly wanted your opinion because we have the same play style, in the same league, in the same conference. And from what I have noticed your teams are pretty competitive from season to season. This was my subtle way of saying 'tell me your secrets.' :P

I think I need a few more guys that can get on base or a little more power.

Been a while since I ran into this issue and just wanted to double check I'm doing the right thing.

Drafted a guy and offered demands and he came back with the considering to play college baseball message. Am I correct that increasing the offer at this point won't help to sign him and I should just wait until he comes back with a counter offer/signs?

Thanks in advance

Changing your offer does nothing; you have to wait on his next move.

I know no one cares about my ****, but I actually put some effort into drafting and building my minor league teams as well as I can, and it ****** me off that they go into the playoffs and get beat by cheap-*** owners who lazily populate their entire minor league systems with unwanted AAA free agents. Jerks.
