Couldn't quite think of why you wanted my opinion in particular, but I think the fact that you did means you sort of knew the answer.

hockey1984 and I play a too-similar style... pitching and defense, just enough offense to frustrate "better" teams LOL. It's a tightrope. And as I have stated elsewhere, I think this game allows for wider sets of results than we think it does or should. This season could simply be that you had one of those "crater" seasons I've been expecting, where all your trends hit downward at the same time. If you go look at my Portland team this same season you'll see three, four players having their best seasons at the same time. Might be the only difference between our teams.
I play a good amount of fantasy baseball. And things fantasy "experts" always harp on is whether a player's performance are driven by high or low BABIP (batting average on balls in play), or a pitcher high or low LOB (left on base). Those are stats which can show you, to an extent, how just plain lucky a player is getting, and they normalize over time.
