It's just that my variable team seems capable of losing to just about anything submitted to face us. The game before we graciously handed steelerfan his team's 6th win in 51 games. It's the underachieving frustration talking here ...
I wasn't happy when I gave him his 5th win a few games before that. My fault really. I rested too many of my studs trying to save them for the better teams and I outsmarted myself.

My 1911 Ty Cobb has been fantastic: through 50 games, a slash line of .353 / .417 / .517, 35 SB (with only 7 CS), and a net positive on the defensive end (9+/1- plays, with 5 errors) in CF. This is in a pitching heavy league (.249 / .307 / .336, with a league ERA of 3.48). And drafting Cobb allowed me more flexibility with the money I saved versus using the other studs.

On a related note, I've been very happy with my 1995 Greg Maddux (9-1, 1.56 ERA, 0.87 WHIP), and my team has a 2.60 ERA (even with some bullpen issues, starters have been lights out). This has been my best team at 34-16 (even after losing my past two games in extra innings), hope it continues!
Maddux was my favorite decision...hippo Vaughn for me is batting well and leading the cy young...

Maybe this whole hitter fatigue thing is overrated. My variable team just gave up 12 runs to a lineup with four guys playing at 65-75 fatigue who went a combined 8 for 19 with 7 runs.
Yeah I drafted way too few pas...sorry everyone...

When will the various theme analysis threads get posted?
Been looking forward to analysis on each theme. I’d love to help but Iv only got an iPhone to use....

I too am looking forward to all the roster breakdowns. When I was running this tournament, that was my favorite part - doing all the analysis as soon as the rosters were all verified.

So I'm curious, did anyone else need to make any major changes to their rotation/bullpen once this got going? My $120 theme was having a hard time with fatigue, and there was a huge drop off between my 1/2 starters (95 Maddux and a 16 Kershaw/01 Pedro tandem) and my 3/4 starters (92 Tewkesbury and 11 Halladay), so after about 12 games I changed from a 4 man rotation to a 2 man rotation with my 3/4 starting every other game throwing 3-4 innings, which Allows me to use a combination of Maddux, Kershaw, and Pedro, and Koji every game. It's worked well so far!

It's funny... I draft like a "set it and forget it" owner, almost always with too many IP's and PA's to really contend, but I actually scour my teams after each cycle fully knowing that I have time to micromanage more than most. I probably should take more chances knowing that I can personally manage any crisis and get advice to do it properly. Might even be the difference to get me into the top 30 or so. Maybe next year I will take that approach...

I never get the pitch count settings right at the start. I am always micormanaging my teams, until we get far enough through the season, where the any fatigue pretty much sorts itself out.

It's a risk/reward for sure. I'm still trying to get it down, but I've actually come to love the two man opener with stud finishers technique. Let's your best pitchers pitch in more games and limits the damage weaker starters can do imo

My '17 Verlander (RL .149 OAV./172 OAV+) has an OAV of .396 in 12 appearances in the $110M league. He's 0-4 with an 11.32 ERA. Even for a small sample size, that's ludicrous. It's not even like he's a great pitcher. He's a phenomenal pitcher according to his RL stats. Three of his losses came in appearances in which he did not allow a homer. Most recently, he got two quick outs, then walk, single, single, single, two runs, blown save and loss.

$80M team: 0-0 game into the 12th...we score two, they score three to walk off.

$90M team: 5-5 game into the 11th...we score one, they score two to walk off.

$110M team: loses again to fall to 6-17 since a 5-1 start.

Not our best cycle.
This extra inning stuff is starting to annoy me. 4-4 game in the 10th...I score 4, and they score 5 to walk it off, including homers from Lajoie and Lyons, both with 7 RL homers in 500 IP.
And it continues. 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 9th. Alexander gives up 1 to blow the save. We score 3 in the top of the 10th, Bill Henry gives up 3 in the bottom half and we lose in 11. I don't ever recall this many extra inning games where I took a lead in extras, especially by multiple runs, and lost.

My teams are now a combined 6-23 in extra inning games. How I'm still in the Top 10, I'll never know.

A very little bit of analysis from league 6B: a scatterplot of wins and salary cap at the 54 game (1/3) mark. There are 2 team at 19 wins / $174M cap, which is why there are only 23 dots. Slight correlation, which is what I would've expected.

Totally agree.

Real life is a B these days though. I can barely handle real-life crap. Let alone the fun part of this

We all need to be patient for fun.

Give him time.
