Go dewey!  Take the Rockhurst Hawks to 5-0.

OPENING ROUND:

#16 ROCKHURST 78; #2 BELLARMINE 77

Bellarmine wasn't  able to overcome the thug-like qualities of the Rockford Hawks and their referee pals.  Bellarmine's Tommy Waxman suffered a broken nose in a vicious attack and PG Richard Walsh only logged 6 minutes due to questionable fouls.  Rockford made more FT, 35-13.

#36 LANDER 70; #21 PITTSBURG ST. 64

Lander took the lead 19-17 and never trailed again. They had an answer to every attempt by the Gorillas to regain control.

#26 LENOIR-RHYNE 94; HUMBOLDT ST. 78

Lenoir-Rhyne outscored the Humboldt Lumberjacks 31-15 in the final 9 minutes to pull away for the victory.

Strong defense and rebounding led the Gorillas over the Knights.

THIRD DAY

Lander 98; #25 Rockhurst 79

Lander broke open a close game with a 9-0 run at the start of the 2nd half and coasted to the victory

#21 Bellarmine 73; #10 Lenoir-Rhyne 65

The game was tied at 5 and 8 but Bellarmine never trailed. The Knights led by as much as 19 in the 2nd half but Lenoir never gave up

#31 Pittsburg 70; Humboldt St. 64

Humboldt jumped to a 10-2 lead before Pittsburg got untracked. The Gorillas led by as much as 16 in the 2nd half.

STANDINGS
Lenoir-Rhyne 2-1
Lander            2-1
Pittsburg St.   2-1
Rockhurst      1-2
Humboldt      1-2
Bellarmine     1-2

Today's games:

Humboldt (3-4) at #11  Bellarmine (5-2)
#24 Pittsburg (5-2)  at #39  Rockhurst (5-2)
#23 Lenoir-Rhyne (5-2) at #30 Lander (5-2)

If Lenoir-Rhyne is to win the title, they'll earn it the hard way. They close with road games against fellow co-leaders Lander and Pittsburg.  Lander has already defeated Pittsburg and travels to Bellarmine on the final day. I rate Lander as a slight favorite to win the Black Diamond Trophy.
