All four 1-seeds in D3 Tark just came from the USA South.  Heading into the conference tournament they had the top 6 seeds on the PR.  I guess hoarding 1-seeds is the cool thing to do now.

Yeah, the engine doesn't want you to face a conference mate in the sweet 16. That happened to me too, was something like #15 on projection report and got shuffled back to a 6 seed.

its to avoid conference mates, meaning the spots they "should" have gotten would have put them too close to a conf mate, in terms of when they could have met in the tourney, so the game tried them in consecutive spots until they found one farther away from conference mates. if you are talking about the power conf with all 1 seeds, all 4/5 seeds could meet them in the s16, which is basically unacceptable to the algorithm seble uses, so they'd necessarily be bumped down to a 6, unless someone above them was bumped down too, allowing them to move up to a 3.

You understand that this is a function of the D3's becoming near ghost towns. Heavily populated conferences are rare and they dominate RPI growth and recruiting. You can go 26-0 i n a conference that has one human coach and not get above 50 RPI.

so why wouldnt anyone prefer to play in the dominant conference as opposed to going 26-0 and gettting 50 rpi?

and the neat thing about our conference is it is top heavy and currently has 5 sims so its not one of those conferences that can end up being a bloodbath for good teams.
