Updating ELITE status Topic

Where is this list of current elites in WIS or is this just a discussion of real football? I need to know the list if they have a recruiting advantage I should know about so I don't waste my recruiting budget fighting them.

notre dame is still elite.  despite their recent issues they still bring in top talent and recover with a top flight new head coach.  similar to ohio state, michigan, usc recently.  it seems like with a stadium over 100k fans you'll always be an elite.
I'm sorry but your statement about Notre Dame recovering with a top flight coach is simply laughable. Since Bob Davie took over after Lou Holtz, a Notre Dame head coach has not lasted more than 5 seasons, and only one of them has had a winning percentage above .600, and he just so happens to be the head coach now (for how long though?). There is no plausible argument to say Notre Dame is an elite.

OK, I for one would like all Elites to go-away, however what we have is what we have.  However, how about updating the current listing - specifically:

Removal of:

Penn State --- self-explanatory, especially in light of the recent independent report.  We wouldn't glorify other types of programs built on the ignoring the inexcusable (oh that German Army/Industry in the 40's was one of the best...)

Tennessee --- still trying to figure out how they made it in the first place

Based on this rational and that going in the other thread GD should just give Penn State the death penalty. Forget about elite status.

Based on the same rational every American of German, Italian and Japanese decent should be persecuted too.
Lack of Insitutional Oversight that caused the rape of young boys --- he'll yes they should be given the Death Penalty. Also, being a state-sponsored / funded organization the persons who put individuals in oversight positions should also be held accountable - Board of Directors / Past/Current Govenors of the State of PN (Ridge & Rendal) whom appointed the BOD.

They have their own football network deal.  They are on national (not just local or regional) television every single week.  Say hello to plausible.

Phil Steele on the longevity of College Coaches

Did you know in the last 20 years that only 43.3% of Head Coaches make it to year 6? Only 17% make it to year 10! In today's blog I conducted a study of the 379 FBS HC's that have been hired in the last 20 years to find out how many wins per season a coach avg's in his 1st yr, 2nd yr, 3rd yr. Find out the results and much more here

Please, Norbert, let's just get rid of elites altogether and let the best coach win. Let's make our own elites, by winning.

As a USC fan, I still remember the end of the 2nd John Robinson go around through Paul HACKett... Those years we're freakin' terrible...

After the 96 Rose Bowl demolition of Northwestern, SC faded to mediocre until some guy named Pete came along...

The rest is extreme successful history :D

If that happened, it would also be nice to see a revamp of recruit distribution, I think, lest the Big East suddenly become a super conference with Syracuse, Temple, Rutgers and UConn (along with BC and Army) feeding on the current recruit distribution based on population density rather than where DI recruits actually come from (below site has a list of which states produced the most D1 recruits - NY state produced 6 DI signees, and it probably ranks at or near the top in GD)

if somewhere in between real life and WIS life that would help even things out a bit.  its not horrible the way it is now but the NE does a bit more of an advantage that not consistent with real life

I concur on the elimination of elites and more realistic recruit distro.
- Your team is awarded with elite status post-NC win or maintaining a high winning % over a certain period of time (i.e. you're elite because you win...no pre-determined status).
- Tennessee an elite?! You've gotta be kidding me.  Penn State...well, they clearly shot themselves in the foot.
- The best recruits are in the Southeast, TX & CA.  The game should reflect that as well.  See arcade's link.
