Are we back to all struck balls become outs?

"Oh no.  Hope I get a walk because that's the only way I won't get out."

We're only talking about outs. Not all balls in play.

Try to keep up.

I think the problem with arguing that a strikeout is the same as every other out, and why a lot of people have a problem with it, is that it may come across as if there's no difference between these 2 TVs:

1) Strikeout
2) Ball in play

Strikeouts are bad.  It gives you next to no chance of getting on base.  Hit the ball.
I said this earlier because this is what people think when someone says "an out is an out." We're arguing about OUTS and how productive they are or aren't when they're in play.

Nah, I started arguing something else when you were busting tec's balls about BABIP.    Don't tell me I can't because, truth be told, this thread started about PED.

If I have my choice between a swing and a miss or contact, I take contact.    And all the "potential disasters" that come with it.   Can't live your life in fear of bad things happening, eeyore.

Obviously. You'll see "strikeouts are bad. Hit the ball" in what I posted above. But that was never an argument.

Yep. No one has ever argued that a strikeout is the same as a ball in play.

When?

I'm assuming you mean the conversation about making sure you put the ball in play on every atbat. Ok.

If you were to do something that extreme, to make sure that you have 0 strikeouts, your stats overall would be worse. You said prove it, I said "that's kinda common sense" and you called be dumb.

Moving on.

When BABIP entered the discussion.

Who's saying that the goal is to "make sure that you have 0 strikeouts"?

I used it in an extreme argument turning 100 whiffs into 20 hits by reducing BABIP down to 20%.    burnsy doesn't understand the use of extremes to make a point.

No one. Just like no one is arguing that a strikeout is the same as a ball in play.

Yet you have argued that all outs are basically the same.  Correct?
