Re Complaints About GD's Inconsistency... Topic

I was wondering if I was the only one thinking about Snake, glad there are still a few of us that can remember that far back.

No way that you could forget about Snake.

I simply do not understand how anyone can say no one knows this engine when you have coaches like damauler12 dominating the way he does. Like he said earlier, do you really believe he just gets lucky over and over again? If anyone believes that I can understand why they haven't learned the new engine. Maybe something to do with IQ level?

JConte = Snake. thats my theory

First, this is no knock agains damauler12.  He's done as good a job as anyone with the new engine and probably only equaled by a small handful of coaches, if equaled at all since the update.  I haven't studied his teams, but if there's a coach to emulate at the lower levels, I wouldn't hesitate to point out his success.

Having said that:  the worlds are empty, there's been a mass exodus of quality coaches and two of his runs are in D2, which has traditionally been empty relative to D3 and D1A.  If his teams are as superior relative to the competition as the old dynasty teams, he should have much, much better and longer runs due to the lack of competition.

I believe I'm a good recruiter at the lower levels and have won a few NCs with the new engine.  IMO, I have talent and then I get lucky and that's how I've won those NCs.  I've found that as long as the other aspects of your game are reasonably competent, it comes down to luck with two teams with similar talent.  And the definition of similar has also changed dramatically with the new engine.

I don't believe I can exploit other teams as I once could.  Better RB and OL vs DL and LB does not always equate to a superior running game.  Better QB and WR vs DB does not always equate to a superior passing game.  Better depth and STA does not always give an advantage.  You can't target specific players in the passing game.  Then there's style and tendency, which I have no idea about any more.  There's no rhyme or reason why certain things work or don't work in a particular game.  It all comes down to hoping the sim picks the right random number and all of the variables you once controlled come up on your side with that random number.  There's too much out of your control to consider that anything but luck.

As far as learning the new engine, the only thing I've learned is I that I can win an NC without calling a running play all season using inferior talent.  If you, or anyone has learned anything else, please post your data to share with the rest of us.

I'm comfortable with my IQ and education.  I've studied the new engine more than most.  I've won more than most with both the new engine and old engine.  Yet I believe damauler12 (and any NC winner) just recruits then gets lucky.

I've posted my argument, I'm eagerly anticipating your argument.

None of the engine know-it-alls have explained how this is possible yet

In case you don't want to click the link and investigate:

He goes 18-1 and wins the NC today.

7,823 yards passing... That's ok with me

WR#1 Warren Ward: 120 rec, 1,928 yards, 20 tds... HANDS RATING: 27 (TWENTY SEVEN)

WR#2 Steve Robinson: 91 rec, 1,664 yards, 20 tds... HANDS RATING: 21 (TWENTY ONE)

WR#3 John Houston: 88 rec, 1,498 yards, 13 tds... HANDS RATING: 46 (FOURTY SIX)

I'm awaiting my knowledge lesson

One of the problems with the player ratings. They don't mean anything. It's obvious from flex's evidence that hands mean very little to receiving (probably some argument out their about the QB high tech or some other BS). Same with QB strength meaning 5 different things, formation IQ meaning anything, and elusiveness for OL. Attribute meanings need to change to be specific regarding skills ("Passing" for QB, "Catching" for those who catch, "Blocking", etc.

OR

Make the number relevant. Hands of 27 means that reciever will catch 27% of passes thrown to him, blocking of 70 means he will make a successful block 70% of the time. Others like strength (RB-OL-DL-LB etc) means 60 > 50 and the 60 will always produce 20% (10/50) increased performance over the 50.

I hope Norbert is addressing these and those involved in the summertime beta testing call him on every unjustified match-up where someone with lesser values overcome someone with higher values.

LOL ok flex you made your point that's why nobody is arguing with you. Slider I agree there is too much randomness in the game but I think if human coaches have total control in gameplanning then that leaves SIM as the only one playing with the very randomness that everybody hates which would make it a very dull game just as Mojo brought up earlier in this thread. I'm looking foward to seeing a middle ground with more info about the gameplay engine that Norbert appears to be going for but some head scratching has to remain or they'll need to get every world full to keep it interesting and what are the odds of that?

That is f*cking ridiculous!!!  Unexcusable bull$hit.  Thanks JConte, great game you made here.  Fool.

I just checked, and WR's have a minimum for hands of 33, much like OL with BLK and DL with TKL.  So, all those guys are apparently position switches.  Nice.  Very realistic.

6/16/2012 5:07 PM
Oh, nevermind, he's not practicing HND's.....for wide receivers.....and he just won the NC.....very nice.  **shaking head**  F-ing ridiculous.

6/16/2012 5:09 PM
It's funny, I'm so stupid that HND's was actually my primary attribute when recruiting WR's.....and I practice them pretty hard.  WTF is wrong with me?  Don't I know hands aren't important in catching the damn ball?  Stupid.

6/16/2012 5:27 PM
Apparently for WRs, it's all about SPD and ELU
