Ha ha ha...yes, how could I forget Iowa.  A virtual wealth of high school football talent.  Maybe if we started a wrestling dynasty Iowa would be included...

I think they should just go to some sort of rolling elite status, for all levels and not just 1A, based on results from the actual games played here and not how things were perceived a decade ago in real life. How it should be set up I will leave to better people than myself, but I think it's a reasonable request. Like some have said, 60 years ago Army and Pittsburgh were elite in college football, before then it was schools like Princeton, Harvard, Yale, and Lafayette, more recently Penn State certainly dropped off and Miami and Florida State are certainly teetering on this same edge (not that they don't have good seasons, but they're just not consistently the elite of college football anymore). They aren't considered elite now because of their play on the field and having been surpassed by others, but they certainly had lengthy stays in the spotlight in their times.

I personally think the elites should be left alone minus maybe Miami, Tenn, and probably PSU now. The only advantage in this game for elites is in recruiting.  The elites in the game are the same as in real life.  ND still pulls in top 10 classes each year, not because they are good each year, but because they are ND.  Same with every other elite in this game except for Miami and Tenn.  They all pull in top classes no matter how well they do.....that, to me, screams elite school.

That's a little much. While there are great traditions there, would you consider Army to be elite? I think they should be if Michigan remains.

They are a storied program, but the last few years no longer make them elite.
They were 11-2 and last year and won a BCS game. Step away from the bath salts.
