Not to crush BL's narrative but no one said "He walked too much". A few of us like our best hitters to swing the bat not take pitches.

"Pass it on to the next guy" is a nice team slogan. But most people would prefer he swing the bat. Was Ortiz passing it on to Ramirez or hitting the ******* ball?

Well, you seem to be compartmentalizing my argument.

1. I think he played long enough and I think he had a nice run of "peak years." HOF eligible.
2. He was a pretty good hitter but, unfortunately, he didn't play the field. That's a mark in the bad column.
3. He was a 3-4-5 hitter but, IMO, he walked a great deal. Was he pitched around? Unlikely with A-Rod and Griffey in the line-up. Bad, IMO.
4. It's not like when he swung, he made connection. He struck out once every 6 AB. Bad.
5. We're speculating but we seem to agree he became a DH to lessen the risk of injury. Bad.

You listed reasons for not voting for Em for the Hall of fame and included "he walked a great deal...Bad."

I don't know how you could interpret that any way other than "he walked too much."
2 1/2 years ago? You take the internet too seriously. Maybe go outside, don't warm up and crank out some 75 MPH fastballs.
Didn't you claim to be able to throw mid-60s cold?

Never mentioned a thing about warming up or throwing cold. But, since you know every post I ever made, quote it for me. Thanks in advance!

Did you warm up before your throws at the minor league guess your speed booth?
9/14/2016 2:37 PM
I would like you to quote the post, please. You can find posts from 2 1/2 years ago. Find the one you're referring to now.
9/14/2016 2:38 PM
No, I'm asking you. Did you warm up before your throws at the minor league park?
9/14/2016 2:41 PM
No, I'm asking you. I even used "Please" and "Thanks in advance." So get on it.
9/14/2016 2:43 PM
There's nothing to quote. You never said whether or not you warmed up. Which is why I'm asking.
9/14/2016 2:47 PM
I never said "Martinez walked too much" either but you seem to think I did. For 2 1/2 years.
9/14/2016 3:34 PM
You didn't say those exact words. You said "he walked a great deal. Bad."

That's Trump-speak for "he walked too much."
9/14/2016 4:00 PM
Is the T in T23 short for Trump?
9/14/2016 4:03 PM
I'm not Trump. Perhaps what I posted is what I posted. Maybe your interpretation suited your argument. That wouldn't happen, would it?
9/14/2016 4:03 PM
"He walked a great deal. Bad."

What other interpretation could there be, miketrump23?
9/14/2016 4:06 PM
You do leave out a whole bunch of words in between in that quote. Very political.

I'm certainly not having this discussion again, it's in the thread, but I said I'd prefer my best hitter swing the bat. I don't recall how many times EM was called out on strikes but I damn sure want him swinging at those pitches.

He slugged .515. What makes you think he didn't swing the bat?
