Should KC plunk Bautista because he's a jerk? Topic

I think I made it pretty clear that I wouldn't.

But he didn't hurt his team more. The first guy left three runners at third. The other guy drove them in. Not sure how you don't get that 3 RBI is helping your team more than 0 RBI.
Fuuuuuuuck.

This is what I get for arguing with you. Honestly, I don't know how you inserted yourself in the middle of this, but having to explain everything a second time is super annoying.

I mean ****...RBI? If we're starting at RBI, I doubt things like BaseRuns and linear weights will do anything for you.

But here goes nothing:

You agree that certain outcomes are more valuable than others correct?

For example, if you had a lineup full of guys that hit lots of doubles, your team would score more runs than a team with a lineup full of guys that just hit singles.

Doubles have a higher run value than singles.

Make sense?
Jtpsops?

Because if you answered A, you'd look like an idiot? And if you answered B, you'd also look like an idiot?

No, because it's pointless.

Look at at the main argument, do we even disagree?

If a guy hits .300/.400/.500 over a season, does it matter how he made his outs? I say no. I think you do also.

Good Lord.

Why do you think that I agree with you?

Player A hits .300/.400/.500 over a season (600 PAs) with 185 strikeouts.
Player B hits .300/.400/.500 over a season (600 PAs) with 65 strikeouts.

Are they virtually the same player?

Or is that going to be another question you refuse to answer?

That LOL sure is compelling.

Better?

How do you think their value differs?

Player A walked back to the dugout after striking out 120 more times than did player B. That's 20% of his PA's where he added zero potential improvement to his team's offensive situation.

Would you not agree that 20% is a significant number?

I guess it depends on the difference in value between a strikeout and a non-strikeout out.

Is there a significant difference between the value of a strikeout and the value of a non-strikeout out?

Yes, of course there is.
