Slippery slope. Once you nationalize one industry why not them all? You end up with the USSR....not good.

I didn't say to nationalize anything. And it isn't a slippery slope.

Because nationalizing an industry is creating public ownership of a means of production.

Do you think I am far left? If you do then many, many more people are far left.
Yes, and there is nothing wrong with it. Social democrats are firmly within the umbrella of Socialism. Be proud of what you believe in. Stand up for it and defend it but don't run away from it just to appear more palatable to the masses or more moderate. I am a Classic Liberal..always have been and always will be. If a lot of people believe what I believe, great. If I am the only one in the entire world, also great. In the end, I don't give a damn how many others stand with me as long as I am true to myself.
Here is the Wikipedia definition for Social Democracy:

Social democracy is a political, social and economic ideology that supports economic and social interventions to promote social justicewithin the framework of a liberal democratic polity and capitalist economy.

And Democratic Socialism:

Democratic socialism is a political philosophy that advocates political democracy alongside social ownership of the means of production[1] with an emphasis on self-management and democratic management of economic institutions within a market socialist, participatory or decentralized planned economy.[2]

With that said, the definitions of far left, far right, etc. are different among everyone. I clearly have a different opinion than you do. In the end, those terms aren't all that meaningful anyway as you stated. I don't think people should use far left and far right as an insult. As we see here, many disagree with me.

By the way, Wikipedia's definition of social democracy serves as a definition for far left values. Here is just one example, also from Wikipedia.

Social justice assigns rights and duties in the institutions of society, which enables people to receive the basic benefits and burdens of cooperation. The relevant institutions often include taxation, social insurance, public health, public school, public services, labour law and regulation of markets, to ensure fair distribution of wealth, and equal opportunity.[9]

Look at the terms being used...taxation, social insurance, public health, public school, public services, regulation of markets, fair distribution of wealth. That is all solidly in left field, to the edge of the warning track and right on the foul line. Throw in "not ruling out" the possibility of nationalizing a US industry (which comes straight out of the democratic socialism definition) and you are quite possibly radical far left. If you find such terms insulting, that's not the intent. I am here to have an intellectual discussion. Truth should never be offensive and I rarely put things in a way to intentionally hurt or offend.

Right, but I didn't say that I supported it, but I didn't dismiss it.

Fine, if social policies are far left, than whatever.

What I mean by 'not ruling it out' is that I have an open mind. I am willing to be convinced that nationalizing a US industry is beneficial to the country. If you can convince me that fascism is the best ideology to my morals then I have an open mind to that too.
