Well, he's probably a top 20 all time player even without the roids. Shame. But I'm glad he's gone.
We know he was a better SS than Jeter. Too bad Jeter was too prideful to move to 3rd. Guess that makes ARod a better SS and a better teammate.

I think that was A-Fraud's call. Either way, he was an eh teammate

What?

You really think the Yankees left that decision up to Arod?

I think the deal (I recall) was that ARod wanted SS and the Yankees told him no.

That sounds a lot more likely.

The Yankees already had a SS.

Third base was available.

I think the argument is that Arod was better at SS than Jeter.

I don't know if I agree, Arod was definitely better defensively when he was young. I don't know if he was any better than Jeter when they hit their 30s.

He was definitely better than Jeter when he joined the Yankees.
8/9/2016 2:08 PM
Probably. For at least a season or two. But then what? Move Jeter back?
8/9/2016 2:12 PM
Almost positive A-Rod was told "You'll be at 3B" before the deal was made. So, yeah, he accepted the move.
8/9/2016 3:32 PM
FWIW, A-Rod was probably pushing 240 by his 2nd year with the Yankees. Not exactly a SS build. Hell, surprised he didn't blame Jeter and the Yankees for his 'roid use. "If they had left me at SS, no way would I have bulked up like I did!!!!"
8/9/2016 3:34 PM
Jeter was also above 200 lbs and not exactly what you would consider a good shortstop.

Surprised Arod doesn't get more love for unselfishly agreeing to move to 3B.

Should NY retire his number?

I think Jeter gets a bad rap as a SS. He wasn't Ozzie, but I've seen plenty worse.
