1982 Montreal Expos
Strong choice. I considered them way up earlier, actually.
I also considered them with the 3rd pick.
I wish you would have taken them!

Somehow, I fear that you will have the last laugh.

Thanks. They were my #1 ranked team

Which means I’ll definitely finish in last place...

Last time we did this I just loved my team. Everything fell together perfectly and I finished .500. And jon was the one who daggered me, not that I'm bitter. That was a couple of years ago. I'm way over it today.

When I was younger, I had the tabletop Statis-Pro Baseball game and I replayed the entire 1982 National League season. It took several years. The Dodgers and Expos won the divisions for me. I got pretty familiar with all the players and I've looked for ways to play some of those guys on here when they made sense ... so of course I went and drafted a 1942 team instead. Not sure what I was thinking. I've been having second thoughts ever since.

Played many seasons of APBA with a couple of college friends. Well into our mid 20s.

Guess we were geeks, but we had fun.

I started on APBA too. I got in a play by mail league in 1975. I chose the name Beernoser so the other players wouldn't know how young I was. Been Beernoser ever since. Kept my team for about 15 years.

If you subscribe to The Athletic (you should if you don't because it's outstanding), Joe Posnanski just started a new series on great plays in baseball history. He did a whole one today on Strat-o-Matic that put me in mind of these old games. Definitely worth a read for people like us who love this stuff.

We played the 1979 season as part of our stat and probability class in HS. Instead of playing the teams, the cards were pooled and we held a draft. I still remember playing Oscar Gamble for the whole season without injury. 35 years later I am coming clean. I cheated. Bad Neighbor.

I had a Strat-O-Matic game back in the mid 60's when I was 12 or 13 years old. I have fond memories of spending rainy afternoons playing Strat-O-Matic back in those days. It was always fun getting those player cards in the mail every winter. That's over 50 years ago! Man I'm old...
