Replacement for GUESS is a work in progress. Should be ready before Bob shuts down his site.

Make that 2 votes for a Mac capable tool. I just came back a year or so ago after a 12 year absence. I used to run Yatzr’s recruiting on my Mac. Came back to just having to wing it. I would pay a fee or even a subscription to have a Mac viable recruitment tool.

As to Guess, and the lack of donations, unfortunately, when you make something available to everyone, for free, and ask for donations, eventually donations will run dry. It's just the nature of the internet. If it's free, it's free.

What I would suggest to Bob is that perhaps you make it a pay site, with a nominal fee to join, say ten dollars, with a few dollars a month as a recurring payment. I'm sure you'd get some takers and maybe even make it financially viable.

Comments on recruiting app for Mac noted. I had a working prototype a few months back, but packaging apps for easy install and execution on Mac needs some work. Will see what I can do after Guess replacement.

As far as a paid site, I've thought about it, but not ready for that at this moment.

One other thing that may have gotten lost/forgotten, I also have published a browser extension for Chome/Edge and Firefox. Click a recruit's hometown (in Recruit Search or Recruit's profile page) and it will map their location in relation to all human coached schools. It also highlights recruits you have watched and colors their row yellow if your school is battling for the recruit or green if your school is on the recruit alone. And in Team Schedule page either on main site or within a Team's profile, it adds a link to GDAnalyst Game Analysis site for that school and next to each box score link is a green + icon you can click and it will instantly analyze that box score.

The other headache when it comes to turning anything into a paid service is 1) the website needs to be protected with authentication which requires handling of credentials; 2) there are 3rd party services that can handle authentication, but they usually cost money; 3) any type of auth handling likely requires a privacy policy to be established; 4) paid service requires a terms of service to be established. None of that sounds enjoyable. I'd rather code more.

This is a hobby for me, not a business, so I think donations make the most sense.

Yeah, I agree. No need to "compete" with WIS. But providing them with good ideas/processes is a good thing for all of us. Take whatever money comes your way!

I just came back to start again this week to see if there was any life left in this game. I started playing near the beginning in 2004, and then again sometime around 2013. I remember when I discovered your recruiting tools and the ratings and it was life changing. I think the recruiting rankings is what kept me playing the game as it was far more enjoyable than the game itself. I want to thank you for your hard work and all the effort you put into making this community a much better place. Enjoy your retirement!
