skinndogg - I think that is the best idea. Hopefully, everyone will just try to stay reasonably on top of things.

I am always available to take proxies. My schedule is very flexible these days.

However, if there is a missed pick, I think I'm leaning towards letting the next owner take two players, and assigning one to the owner with the missed pick. This gives incentive for everyone to proxy or get their pick in on time, and prevents the draft from getting held up.
