The rationale was that it'd even the playing field between spread offenses and standard. QB's who rely on dink and dunk passes are less likely to receive that bonus. It also discourages touchdown vultures and encourages traditional running backs.
But like I said, it's open to discussion.
i guess i see where you are coming from, just feels like a very artificial way to try to level the playing field, when it doesnt inherently need to be levelled, let the game be what it is and people can strategize their drafts accordingly
