I only played one season of GD and I know it's been updated since then but, as a general rule, 1 difference-maker is better than 4 average players.   Assuming, of course, the SIMAI signings won't be complete crap and you have enough depth to handle it if they are.

Yes but it's hardly noticeable.    Use the defensive difficulty to figure it out.  SS, CF, etc, etc.   But, again, it's miniscule.

I'm looking at signing a relief pitcher with 80 stamina and 40 durability. If he signs, how do I best use him I'm order to maximize his total innings?

I'm thinking of making him a setup A, available in the 5th in in with a PC target/max of about 25/30. Is that wise?

I've had luck offering 50% more per year or adding a year.

I'd make him available for any inning but, yeah, that works.

Piggybacking on that question, is there a reliever other than your closer that you would have a certain inning available # attached to?

I don't use closers but I'll occassionally put a low pitch count guy(10-15 stamina) for entry in the 8th.  Just to have him "in reserve" and not burn him early in the game.

I have a team I'd like to drop, but they have a 38 year old future HoF type who an owner 17 seasons ago held in the minors for 1 game before brining him to the minors. In that one game he went 3-4 with 3 HR's and a walk. Do I have a moral obligation to stick with the team until he retires thereby preserving that sterling 3.800 career MiL OPS?

Meh.  I don't think the fake players care as much about their stats as we do.   That said, I brought Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Jamey Cambridge back and gave him 126 AB so he could get his 400th homer thus ensuring his election to the HOF(but the asswipes of MG have not co-operated). 

Do you have an ideal "staff total" for stamina and durability, meaning a total for your entire staff that will allow them to cover an entire season with minimal fatigue?  If so, what is it?

I just sort of eyeball it now but, if it helps, here's where I am on my two "still in regular season" teams:

509 DUR, 613 STM   MG
389 DUR, 809 STM  Coop

The quality of the pitcher really matters.   A 25/70 isn't the same if one guy is a 1.35/4.05 WHIP/ERA guy and the other is 1.07/2.89 guy.    Also, keep in mind that you don't need to make the entire season with that staff.   You get the A/S break for recovery and roster expansion.

So ignore everything except defensive ratings and the position they're playing in this pic. But when I set the recommended lineups, MacDougal is set to be the DH. Is there anything proven through chats or HBD info that would explain why he's put there? The only thing I can think of is his health/durability combination and the less chance of injury if he doesn't play the field.
