Reggie - if you're old enough to have followed baseball then, first name is enough.
(He had a freakin' candy bar named after him, when it was still PC to eat candy.)

Except people started handing Jeter gold gloves. How would he know he sucked?
He won his first gold glove his 10th season in the majors. It's not like he was being praised as a fantastic fielder the second he got to the big leagues.

I was joking. But, yeah, he wasn't good at defense. Too bad no one clued him in sooner.

He wasn't terrible at defense either. He usually caught what he could reach and he made some spectacular plays. His range was not the best. wasn't the worst either.

Defense is tough with all those rings getting in the way of your glove.

******** about Jeter's range is like ******** about Cindy Crawford's mole back in her heyday.

"I don't know if I'd hit that or not. She's got that mole right above her lip."

8/11/2016 12:35 PM
The mole is hot. Jeter's range was not.

You really are clueless. As I just stated, no one should have had to clue him in that he had some improvements to make. You love arguing in circles.

"The Yanks are winning a hundred games per season with Jeter at SS."
"Yeah but the stats say they'd win 101.2 if Jeter was better defensively."
"100 games gets you the 1 seed."
"Yeah but 101.2 is more."
"Why does that matter?"
"Jeter should just be better defensively. That's all I'm saying."

Wait, are you just arguing that Jeter should have known how bad he was at defense?

Because I don't disagree with that.

That's a different argument, right?

I mean, we're talking about Jeter, not the Yankees as a whole.

If Jeter is just average defensively over his career, we're talking about him as an inner circle Hall of Famer, even if he had played for the Astros or Padres.

Instead, he's a second tier Hall of Famer who gets a popularity boost because he played his entire career for the Yankees.

Hillary, do you have an opinion?

Yes. You said it's a shame no one let him know sooner, and my argument was he shouldn't have needed someone to tell him - he was watching the best SS's in the world night in and night out for years.
