I don't know what I want to believe. But I know that no one in this thread has any idea how accurate ballpark/fair "guess your speed" guns are.

That's true. I doubt they're particularly good.

The one other part of this that I didn't mention was that when I threw on the field I probably threw 30-40 pitches. And I was very sore. For 2 days. That's a pregame warmup for a starter...

Sure. If you want to believe that the speed gun saying 74 really has to mean 55 because that's what syncs with your worldview, go for it. I can't prove that it's not true. Don't really care. I would have guessed mid-60s going in, so if you told me the thing was juiced by 10 MPH, I wouldn't call you a liar.
Usually there's a leaderboard. The highest is usually somewhere in the low 80s. Assuming there are a few people at a baseball game actually capable of throwing low 80s, it seems like decent evidence that the gun isn't way high. Otherwise hard throwers would be touching 90, which wouldn't be a very believable velocity.

Why would we assume anyone at a ballgame, outside of the players, can actually throw 80? Because that fits your agenda?
9/14/2016 4:13 PM
Because I know people that aren't pro players that can throw in the 80s, verified by a professional gun. If they can do it, it makes sense that a few out of 40,000 can also do it.
9/14/2016 4:15 PM
Why does that make sense? But, for ***** and giggles, let's say 1% of those 40000 can throw 80. Why would any of those 400 throw cold? Odds are, and my odds are much higher than yours, those 400 play some sort of stick/ball game. Most people know maxing out, with no warm up, is a real risk to the arm. Why would those 400 want to risk injuring their arm?

Ok Mr. Argumentative, whatever you say.

Seems like the Argue Monkey is on the retreat because he realizes his assumptions are bullshit. Unless, of course, you think 1 out of 10 adult males can crank out 80 MPH fastballs with no warm up AND are always willing to do so.
9/14/2016 4:45 PM
Where did I say that?

Don't change the subject. Answer the questions.

You're doing it wrong. You need to jump up and down, scream, and defiantly DEMAND that he answer your questions!

Like when he demanded that I repost the sitemail from admin busting him in a lie?
9/14/2016 5:07 PM
LOL. Avoiding the questions after adamantly stating "it makes sense".
9/14/2016 5:18 PM
Because there's no proof either way. You say you could throw "high 80s" when you were 15. Sounds like total bullshit to me, but I can't prove it.

I say I believe the radar gun when I see someone throw 82 at a fastest pitcher booth. You say bullshit, but you can't prove I'm wrong.
9/14/2016 5:23 PM
You were all in until I put some realistic numbers, and simple facts about arm injury, out there. Then you ran like a screaming *****. Kinda cunty, I guess.
