If the goal is to move up, I think that would be the case, but you also want to be sure it's not losing all of its good players at the end of the year before you take it over, so you also want to keep an eye on that.

I still can not move up, except to try as a longshot with one of six teams. Looks like it will be one more year. Missed the NT and lost in the first round of the PI and that did me in.

I'm applying to a few cherry-picked schools to try and move up ASAP. If I can't get one of those, I'm probably taking a Peach Belt team.

Moving up to DII Great Northwest. Seattle Pacific or Hawaii Pacific. Might hang there for a few seasons or so, D1 probably the goal.

There are some good D2 teams. I'm tempted to take one but it feels like riding the coattails of another user. After 3 seasons at Lander, and a team full of my recruits, I just can't pull the trigger to an easier path to D1.

But I hope someone takes them to remove the temptation.

As seen in the earlier post, I moved up to Wilmington at D2, leaving behind Randolph-Macon in D3 after 1 season. We got to the 2nd round of the PI.

Ended up taking a bad D2 team with a good class structure. I applied to 3 solid schools but lost out to D2 coaches making lateral moves, so I just looked for a job in an active conference with a lot of juniors.
