2. Mariners @ Orioles 5/9/1997
1997 Jamie Moyer, Bobby Ayala, Greg McCarthy, and Arthur Rhodes
3. 1999 New York Yankees batting orders (no pitchers, only hitters who started at least one game)
1999 Hideki Irabu (starting pitchers DO appear on this page when they bat in Interleague games in NL parks), Chuck Knoblauch, Jim Leyritz, and Luis Sojo
4. Reds @ Braves 7/22/1913. 2nd game of doubleheader
1913 Rube Benton, Wilson Collins**, Jimmy Sheckard, and Johnny Bates
5. Athletics @ Indians 7/20/1919
1919 Steve O'Neill, Pinch Thomas**, Ray Chapman, Larry Gardner
6. * O-C-2 Bill Harbridge 1875-84
1890 Joe Kappel (for Harbridge), 1886 Lou Sylvester, 1888 John Ewing, and 1885 Jim McCormick

For Bill Harbridge's teammates, you can take any teammate who had a sim-eligible season in their first eligible year, or other teammates who retired by 1885 as 200k players and I will find stand-ins for them. I will get back to you later with the best proxy for Harbridge!

EDIT: Closest comp I can find for Harbridge is 1890 Joe Kappel

midknight: As of now, you're the alternate, and may not get a spot ... but it's not uncommon to see a last-minute dropout here, so I will assign you six pages to play with:

1. 3B-OF Jimmy Walsh 1910-15
2. Cubs @ Cardinals, 4/20/1911 - at Robison Field!
3. P Jiggs Parson 1910-11
4. Browns @ Athletics, 8/2/1911
5. Rangers @ Royals, 9/12/1989
6. Brewers @ Reds, 8/6/2008

Lots of deadball pitchers and hitters there, but Bo Jackson did bat cleanup for the Royals that day ... just sayin'.

Okay, so we have 24 owners [or 25] - but we also have a problem.

In past iterations, when owners got a non-sim player, I let them choose their own below-average AAA replacement. This year, I intended to assign low-PA or low-IP players so that they were included, but they didn't give such a big advantage to teams that could use more of them [since the AAA replacements don't count against your team's salary cap].

However, I have found that even the lowest AAA setting still generates players with values of $800k to $1.5m, which still gives advantage to those players.

I see three ways to resolve the problem, two of which will require many owners to retool their rosters a bit - which sucks, and it's my fault. I'm going to put the three options to a vote, and make the call by 5:00 pm on Sunday. Here they are:

1) I would assign AAA replacements with salaries of $1m or less, instead of the players I've suggested previously, or for other needed fill-ins, but keep the value of the stand-ins at $200k, which helps out those teams who have non-sim players to employ. [NOTE: this allows everyone to leave their rosters alone.]

2) Let owners choose their own AAA replacements for non-sim players, from anyone [who played the same position and batted/pitched from the same side] on the below-average AAA list ... but require you to roster a player of similar value as their stand-in, so there's no salary-cap advantage to using them.

3) Roster the replacement players I have chosen, and pick your own replacements for any non-sim players you want to roster ... but put them directly on your roster and skip the AAA component altogether. So, in sevenfifty5's roster above, he could choose any player he wanted for Wilson Collins and Pinch Thomas as long as they keep him under the $82m cap, but we would not be able to re-name them. This is the easiest solution but I would be sad not to have Bill Harbridge himself on that club.

Please site mail your votes directly to me, rather than posting here, so I can keep count easily. You may discuss the options here if you wish.

This sounds like a ton of fun. But it looks like you're full. Let me know.
polymerguy: actually, you are owner #24, and here are six pages for you:

1. Red Sox @ Orioles, 4/26/2007
2. * 3B Jesse Purnell 1904
3. Rustlers @ Reds, 6/2/1911 - yes, the Boston NL club was called the Rustlers that year!
4. OF Johnny Frederick 1929-34
5. Indians @ Rangers 4/28/1979
6. 2003 Cincinnati Reds statistics - all players eligible

Jesse Purnell hit a modest .105. Closest replacement I can find for him is 1961 Bob Sadowski.
1. Redsox@Orioles 4/26/07: Manny Ramirez, Josh Beckett, Chris Ray, Jonathan Papelbon
2. Jesse Purnell 1904-replaced by Bob Sadowski 1963, Jesses teammates: Frank Corridon, Tully Sparks, Ralph Caldwell
3. Rustlers @ Reds 6/2/1911: Bill Sweeney, Buck Herzog, Tom Downey, Peaches Graham
4. Johnny Frederick 1929: Harvey Hendrick, Billy Rhiel, Del Bissonnette

ArlenWilliam: Thanks for the offer. Just in case, here are six pages for you to peruse:

1. Cleveland Infants Pitching Leaders [they only played in 1890, so, anyone who pitched for the club that year, including non-sim players and OF Paul Radford]
2. Diamondbacks @ Rockies, 9/23/1998
3. Yankees @ Orioles, 7/29/2007
4. Orioles @ Yankees, 5/12/1973

6. 1925 Brooklyn Robins Lineups and Defense

That looks like a fun bunch.

The vote was 8-2-1, with four abstentions, including my own. So I will make assignments for 200k players using the players available in the Below Average AAA category.

And here they are:

jfranco77: 2004 Jeff Nelson = AAA 1988 Mark Clear

since there is no one in AAA anywhere close to the great Sadaharu Oh, I’ll keep 1970 Willie McCovey rostered as a proxy for him

razorclams: 1931 Charlie Wilson = I show he had more than 50 AB so he should have a sim season

1931 Buster Chatham = AAA 1978 Larry Wolfe

1991 Joe Bitker = AAA 2004 Scott Proctor

1991 Hector Wagner = AAA 2015 Buck Farmer

1991 Mark Petkovsek = AAA 2004 Juan Padilla

ybjsports: 1957 Murray Wall = AAA 1969 Vern Geishert

1957 Marty Keough = AAA 1955 Tom Saffell

newarkwilder: amazingly, you also chose 1957 Murray Wall, so you should also use 1969 Vern Geishert

1957 Harry Taylor = AAA 1969 Miguel Fuentes

2015 Joe Thatcher = AAA 2010 Gustavo Chacin

2000 Trent Durrington = AAA 1968 Phil Linz

redcped: n/a

burningcouch: n/a

Rattlers: 1971 Hal Breeden = AAA 1971 Willie Smith, as you suggested

polymerguy: 1904 Jesse Purnell = AAA 1908 Ernie Courtney

Kentol: 1979 Bill Paschall = AAA 1983 Bill Castro

sevenfifty5: 1913 Wilson Collins = AAA 2000 Kevin Sefcik

1919 Pinch Thomas = AAA 1907 Mike Heydon

1875-84 Bill Harbridge = AAA 1890 Joe Koppel

That’s eighteen teams that should be good to go. I will check on the remaining owners and try to get them moving so we can start the season this week.

Yes, pretty intriguing. Just maybe I'll do a team and if it doesn't work out here, put them in an OL.

Wow - -There's NO WAY this is competitive. Good Luck Everyone!

Pzzaman - EVERYONE has a team like that. One of my teams has three SP from the 1933 Boston Braves, and the other has exactly two relievers you'd consider rostering in any other situation (not to mention 4 catchers). The rosters here will be equivalent to a $70-75M OL (were there such a thiing).
