Ash, there's no salvaging of this team. The D will stick, unless you move it to an F, for Fouls.

i love 98s kemp/okafor/junkyard frontcourt trio.....all 3 play great d, get lots of orebs and drebs, and score at a high % in the paint that will only go up with payton and oscar dishing it to them....scary team

With a couple of exceptions, as the draft picks get further and further away from 1 (and closer to 24), the teams, in general, are getting better.

Because of this fact, I would like to put forth the motion that if kfunk does not return to do this league, we implement the "closer to..." rule that the ODL uses (draft order isn't just a worst gets first pick, it's a worst gets to choose if he picks first or last or some random place between). I think it would help some owners who get stuck near the top of the draft season after season... while those who consistently do well end up with the (imo) best slots of the draft.

I'm perfectly cool with continuing the way it is, but I'd just like to put the idea forth again. Anyone else like or dislike it?
4/9/2010 3:09 AM
I have nothing against that, ash, if you recommend it and have seen it work in other drafts.

Keep in mind that sometimes it doesn't matter what pick we get, some of us just suck at this.

Also keep in mind, a team can be built perfectly, dominate the regular season, be up 3-0 in the conference finals, lose 4 straight and be done. So...not a whole lot REALLY matters in this sim. That's just my jaded opinion. Can you tell I'm bitter?

Yeah if Ash doesn't mind I'd like my grade. Feel like I'm back in college for final exams!!

sorry guys, weekends are typically very busy for me, as I work two 13 hour days. sometimes things are slow and I have some time to do stuff. Other days we have 4 year olds set themselves on fire, 12-year-olds fall off 100-foot cliffs and another woman being trapped inside a burning home and dying. When those days happen, not a lot of time for wis.

I'll get some final thoughts in here sometime today

I'll definitely do some finish ups this evening (sometime after the 6pm show is over and I eat dinner. Around 8:30/9 eastern should be done)

Thanks Ash! Its really cool you do this type of stuff

You needed boards, and in round 5, you went out and got them. Smith is a tough cookie because he fouls so much, but he gives you exactly what you needed. You also yourself plenty of room to draft in the 6th round, and I like what you did there. B+

coachcroft - Kevin McHale, Kobe Bryant, Bob Lanier, Dana Barros, Clyde Lee

Lee gives you what you needed - more rebounds. He also won't give you too many turnovers. Unfortunately, there are other guys out there that give you more boards than him with less of the negatives. Oh, you took one of them right behind him with your 6th round pick. Jayson Williams was exactly the type of guy you needed. I don't care for Scott in a 52-million league, but I understand why you drafted him. Overall, I think you got most of your bases mostly covered but think you could have made a couple of better moves earlier. B

I'm not grading 6th round picks. All in all, there are a lot of good teams here. I feel that there are some really stand-out teams as well as a couple that blow. This is typical for draft leagues. I'm really excited to see how some of these turn out.

There were some really big shockers in the sixth round. Shockers as in guys that didn't get drafted that belong on a $52-million roster, but won't get there because of the $4-million scrub rule. I haven't finalized my roster yet, but I know of at least two guys that went undrafted that will be making this edition of the Ashland Funktown Mustangs!

couple more quick thoughts about round 6:

Emp saved some face with his shooting guard tandem of Hawkins and Curry. Curry in particular has one really decent $52 million league season. I'm still calling your team a D, but maybe you get a + in front of it.

UVA I is the scariest team out there to me. UVA II is not far behind, but LTB and Scud both have frightening teams.

gtak - I like the Sheed pick. I almost went that direction instead of Bosh, and now I wish I had.

good draft, all. Good luck in the regular season! Some of us will really need it.
