If a D2 NT appearance is worth, let's say, 1 point for getting to D1, what is a D3 NT appearance worth?  Feel free to throw numbers about NT wins in as you wish as well.

I think 300 regular season wins or something like 10 NT wins will get you from D3 to D1. I am pulling those numbers out of my *** but you know, my *** ain't no dummy.

300 regular season wins won't get you to D1, you may not be a dummy, but you need to eat a lot more Smarties...

That number for NT wins might be about right. I went D3 to Davidson a long time ago in Knight with 12 NT games won

I'm positive I qualified for D- D1 jobs with just 4 seasons under my belt at NCWC in Crum.  I was 91-28 and had just 5 NT wins without ever getting out of the 2nd round of the tourney.

I think it's easier than most people think to qualify for D- jobs.  However, I feel like the requirements increase exponentially as the baseline prestige for the school goes up.

FWIW, after six seasons in D3 at Colorado, a 135-52 record, 5 NT bids, and a 10-5 NT record (most recent season: Elite Eight), I am not qualified for any D- jobs, although I am a longshot for a couple. 

That surprises me, Tarv. I wonder if I was a longshot then. My plan in Crum was to get to D1 as fast as possible. I remember having put an application in for a D- school, then pulling it because I was convinced to join a D2 conference instead.

yeah, I was thinking it was a bit easier to qualify for D- jobs as a D3 as well. I usually check, just to see, and I was thinking I usually got qualified pretty quickly once I got a D3 team up and running with my own players. Maybe I was just misremembering. Conveniently, Phelan jobs started today, so I could actually check. I know I'm qualified for a good bit in Crum, but don't remember how high it goes.
