Did I get "Jobbed"? (Pun intended) Topic

I currently coach Georgetown in Tark. I started playing this game about 3 years ago with the main goal of coaching my alma mater, Indiana University. The Indiana job first opened up last season, where I was beat out by a slightly more qualified coach. That coach left after one season and the job opened up again this past weekend. I applied, but got beat out again. Naturally I was bummed, but when I saw the coach that beat me out, I was pretty angry. Below are our resumes. I only included ten years of data because as far as I'm aware that's all that factors in the job logic. Am I correct in thinking I got screwed, or am I just being bitter? I had a better RPI (in a better conference) in 9 out of 10 seasons. I had 5 NT appearances, he had 2. I had 3 PT appearances and he had 6. Is there something I'm missing? I'm just baffled.

Pretty strange that he got the job, maybe it's your coach reputation, did you rescind many schollies, did you not respect your promises?

Nope A+ for both reputation and loyalty. I've never not fufilled a promise and haven't rescinded any schollies while at Gtown. I'm so annoyed.

Only thing I can see is your one losing season to his none. Neither of your resumes is fantastic, and are relatively equal over the last 10 years, but you've got a slight edge, I think. I don't think you can say it was a travesty, but I'd have given you 65-35 odds there.

Does he have a long-term edge (massively more total wins than you) that we can't see here? It's been a while, but I know at one point the biggest jobs had sort of unofficial minimum-wins totals needed to get them, barring major tourney success.

My Overall Records:
Overall: 498-271 (64.8%) Players Drafted: 1
Conference: 248-168 (59.6%) with 9 championships and 7 Conf Tourney Championships
National Tournament: 14 bids 9-14 record
PIT Invitiational: 4 bids 7 wins

His Overall Records:
Overall: 987-784 (55.7%) Players Drafted - 1
Conference: 568-424 (57.3%) with 7 championships and 2 Conf Tourney Championships
National Tournament: 8 bids 6-8 record
PIT Invitiational: 18 bids 8 wins

Aside from volume of wins... my percentages, conference performance, and NT performance is significantly better.

I did. Still waiting on a response. I'll be sure to relay the reasoning why.

Is it possible that WIS is using baseline prestige as some type of baseline for measuring coach performance?

A slightly better resume for a coach @ Duke versus one @ some low D+ I could maybe understand giving the nod to the D+ coach.

Georgetown = A minus baseline

vs.

Colorado St. = C baseline

Only the last 10 seasons count. And the last one counts more than the second, the second more than the third etc.

The rest of us Big East coaches don't want you to leave, so we spread a vicious rumor around Indiana's campus that your favorite drink is a boilermaker and your favorite colors are black and old gold.

I can almost guarantee it was the losing seasons. I've changed jobs kind of frequently in Tark, and I look after every season, good or bad. judging by what I've qualified for each time, I can pretty much say that a losing season just crushes your standing for jobs. you had 2 in the last 5. that killed you.

I'd be ****** if I was stuck at Georgetown too.
