A with the Tigers, it will take a couple of years to get all these players to get used to play together. But, as the FA will leave before they become a good team, the Jays will remain a mediocre team, with no prospects to boot as they traded them all.
Worst move : Trading Tavis d'Arnaud for R.A. Dickey. An end of career pitcher for a promising catcher. Arencibia can hit HR, but he ain't much of a catcher. Now, they're stuk with him as they have no one to take his place .
Second worst move : re-hiring John Gibbons. Of all the coaches they could have hired, they go to the very worst one they could get. A coach that let pitchers get murdered by opposing hitters, that seems indifferent to what is going on on the filed. i often wonder if he loves baseball.
Best move of the off-season : getting Melky Cabrera.
that said, their crappy bullpen is still crappy. They did nothing to improve it in the off-season. And, if the starters falters, don't count on the bullpen to keep you in the game.
The Marlins deal : what did they get for these prospect reall?. An over the hill pitcher ( Mark Buerhle ), a pretty good pitcher in Josh Johnson, but one that only once pitched more than 200 innings in his career ( remember the bad bullpen that will ruin many good efforts from him ? ) Let's forget Emilio Bonifacio mnd John Buck. EWhat is left is Jose Reyes. The only player of the deal that really adresses a need for the Jays. Finally, a true lead-off hitter.
The only saving grace for Toronto is that the Yankees are injury ridden, aging ballclub. Also, the Orioleswill find new ways of losing.
If i were the Rays, i would get the champagne ready. They probably will be able to clinch the division in early september.
So :
1 - Rays win the division with over 95 wins
2 - Under 81 wins fo Boston
3 - Under 75 wins for the Jays
4- Under 70 wins for the Orioles
5- Under 70 wins for the Yankees
