The point I didn't want to make in re: cmcafeeky is that it is a real bad take to say you are boycotting a black voice because you don't want to hear their take on the matter or because they call out white people for misrepresenting the black struggle.
Amplify BIPOC voices on the matter every way you can.
I'm not boycotting him because I don't want to hear his 'voice'
Ive seen most of his films - aside from Chi Raq and BlacKKlansman
I think he is a jackass -
He is a jackass on MANY fronts -
For me to forward such an opinion
should NOT be grounds for you to take this in any direction other than "hes a jackass"
Jamie Foxx thinks he is a jack *** - Quentin Tarantion thinks he is a jackass....
its a growing list -
I think I spelled out in detail WHY I don't care for him ,
and I'm certain it has nothing to do with MY being against a cause or a belief -
My publicly admitting to not liking Spike Lee should not be equated to being intolerant
nor should my not agreeing with his Oscar boycott - or his unjust criticism of Eastwood
I think maybe your looking for something that isn't there
I had read the Pennsylvania rants you alluded to,
and for you to paint me with the same brush is insulting.
So far your list of beefs consist of:
1) calling out specific white people for being ******
2) liking the Knicks
Your criteria for beef are looking suspect af my dude.
First, I don't like Spike Lee - I think that has been established
and I'm not apologetic about that.
In fact, I'm not apologetic for anything I've written.
My intent was to answer why I didn't watch one of his films -
and I think I did a very good job on that.
It was never my intention to compile what you call "my list of beefs"
It wasn't hard for me to grab a quote to debunk you prescribed take
that Spike Lee was somehow justified in
'calling out white people for being ******* "
for why people (more than myself) don't like Spike Lee.
quote attributed to Jammie Foxx: (he is an Oscar winning actor - comedian - etc. and a proud African American)
“The question for me is: where’s Spike Lee coming from?” he said. “He didn’t like Whoopi Goldberg, he doesn’t like Tyler Perry, he doesn’t like anybody, I think he’s sort of run his course. I mean, I respect Spike, he’s a fantastic director. But he gets a little shady when he’s taking shots at his colleagues without looking at the work. To me, that’s irresponsible.”
I dont know the back story of Spike Lee and Whoppi Goldberg - but the Foxx quote infers there is a problem.
(and it doesn't seem reserved to 'calling out white people for being ********'" as you put it.)
Foxx goes on to comment: "he doesn’t like Tyler Perry"
(and again, the Spike Lee beef thing doesn't seem to be limited to: 'calling out white people for being ********'" as you put it)
Foxx contines: "He doesnt like anybody"
Im not sure about all of the back story involving Spike Lee, and how much Foxx knows about all of that, surely more than I know but again, it looks like Foxx is insinuating there is more than
what you prescribe as 'calling out white people for being ********'"
Foxx goes further: "I think he’s sort of run his course."
While I don't want to speak for Foxx true intention with this statement,
I tend to think that it refers to Spike Lee droning on and on about things to the point that Foxx doesn't pay attention to him.
And, I dont know that I agree that Clint Eastwood or Quentin Tarentin are best described as white people for being ********'"
I tend to think Foxx may be onto something when he rrefered to SPike Lee as "Shady"
beef #2: liking the Knicks -
well, there is hardly anything wrong with me NOT liking Knicks fans - right?
