Welcome to the inaugural season of the $60M TOC version of the How Low Can You Go league! This recurring theme will be run with similar variable rules and caps each season as we do in the ultra-low cap How Low Can You Go league. The difference is, where the ultra-low cap version keeps your maximum salary between $20M and $40M, the intent of this league is to maintain salaries between $40M and $60M to fill the $60M TOC. Although not as extreme as the true HLCYGL, this is still a league where you can use players you never use and sprinkle in a few you do use. There is a little flexibility on the level of attention needed to manage fatigue for those who prefer more of a set-it-and-forget-it style.
For our kick-off season we’ll start with a $46M salary cap and 2/2, u-pick, average AAA. In addition, your AAA players must be WIS rookies, 1st year seasons only! The rest of the rules: all seasons and stadiums are eligible. No WW, trades, DH, clones, transaction deadline, or PA minimum. There will be an 875 inning minimum for pitchers to help contain the fatigue death spiral. The 875 innings does not include your AAA pitchers, which makes your full team minimum 925 innings.
The rest: 24 teams, standard WIS format, injuries on. And lastly…prizes! We will use the same prize structure for this league as we use for the HLCYGL: 1) The Better Luck Next Year award - The non-playoff team with the most wins (tie’s are split between teams), and 2) The Comeback Kid award – In future iterations (v2 and beyond) this award will be for the team with the most improved record from their previous LCEL season (ties will also be split). An owners previous season does not have to be the leagues most recent previous season. For example, if an owner played in v1 and v2 and then rejoins in v6, that owners v2 record would be considered their previous season and used to calculate the difference for the v6 season. All owners with a previous season will be eligible. We will only be using the seasons that are attached to the current league, v1 and beyond.
For this iteration, since we do not have a previous season, all owners will be improving from “0”. This means the owner with the most wins this season will be the winner of the Comeback Kid prize. Not a bad haul for our 1st season’s winner.
