Ok. I am a history buff and I have to admit that as a newer owner I dont know all the reasons for different rules and procedures and have the historical perspective that many of u seasoned owners have.

Redbooda has not responded to sitemails and has no other active teams. He last competed in the franchise theme which is currently in the playoffs, and which he didn’t have a team that qualified.

In my short history with this league, we have had an owner who had a medical situation and was making draft picks from the hospital and he had 2 teams. So, I do have at least half a heart and half a brain. Here is my proposal. We will give everyone another day b4 the clock starts. We’ll just move the draft times from starting on Wednesday to starting Thursday. While the 1st round may be “un-timed”, what are we supposed to do wait until Xmas. At some point we have to start.

On another note, let’s all take a deep breath and be gracious enough to give everyone a “Get out of Jail” card. I have a little thicker skin than most and am going to need a lot of help from a lot of different people. U know Dwight Eisenhower wasn’t the smartest or the most accomplished of the generals in WWII. We needed both Patton & Macarthur too.

I've always felt they should get a free team from the site, but that's never going to happen.

That was from BenJoker. Actually, the commissioner of a league does get a free team. Speaking as one who has run a lot of leagues, getting “paid” a free team is really being underpaid, considering all the effort a commissioner puts into running a league, especially if it is a draft league. As for me, I don’t do it for the free team, I do it because I like the league and I don’t mind the extra effort.

Speaking of leagues, check out the Silent Auction League. It’s a fun league and we need 12 more.

As for the future of the DDL, I would suggest that instead of combining the 50s and 60s, go ahead and throw the 1970s in there too.

I disagree strongly with adding the 70s in with the 50s and 60s. The 70s league was great on its own. If we throw that in with the 50s and 60s it will just become mainly a 1970s league. The 50s and 60s league is very challenging and those players should be used. We are all spoiled by always using superstars in every league. I like the challenge of trying to put together teams without the high percentage shooters that we all are used to stockpiling in most leagues.

Just a suggestion to rift to manage the draft. You may want to start a new draft thread where you can create all your own page 1 housekeeping posts for draft order, picks, rosters etc. and then we can use this as the draft commentary. We have already had 10 pages of message board posts and only 18 draft picks so it might make sense to do it that way.

There are only a few theme leagues that are still going strong after almost a decade…this coming May 2023 the DDL will celebrate it’s 10th anniversary. Nothing needs fixing, it is exactly what I envisioned 10 years ago. I was happy when the DDL made it through the first cycle, I thanked everyone for participating, in my mind the league was a success and was over. Then skypilot comes and tells me hey people are signing up for the next DDL. Well here we are DDL#35 and I thank Amerk for his dedication and hard work over the last 8 years. I look forward to riftonapple being the commissioner for many years too.

There’s no rush for this draft, what important is getting riftonapple setup to run this league. Amerk is burnt out and I’m going to take his place as riftonapple asked me to for the rest of this league. I’m not here to ban anyone for what’s happening. When I burnt out after 7 or 8 seasons I walked away and didn’t play in Amerk first season as commissioner. SavoyBG you didn’t cause Amerk to quit he was done already. Hey thomcat could you please handle the alpha list. If redbooda doesn’t pick soon I’ll take his team.

What is your thinking in retiring the foundational era of the NBA and dooming huge stars like Bill Russell, Dolph Schayes, Bob Pettit, George Mikan and Bob Cousy to never being part of the league again?

Point of order, I would think that to make this drastic of a change in the cycle that it would require more than just a majority vote. I think you would need at least 2/3 of the vote to do this, like removing someone from Federal Office, or overriding a Presidential veto.

You can't just say "no editorials" with this important of a decision. Debate must be had.
