Eh, you're being the clown here. Exit velocity is great. But if we can't use it for anything, I have a hard time saying it's the best.

Then let's use SLG. You know, the one that indicates that Ty Cobb was more of a power hitter than Dave Kingman.

Please point out where I said slugging was perfect. But at least we have it for everyone.

Moving the goalposts, clown.

Again, you're being the clown here. I agree that Statcast data is probably the best for everything: power, fielding, pitching, etc. when we have full access to it, it will be like Christmas.

But we don't. So that limits the value of the stat.

Because we were comparing specific players? Because we were evaluating specific players? I don't recall that, clownshoes.

Because it's actually subjective. Hard hit % isn't based on Statcast data. Baseball Info Solutions watches video and puts the info (distance traveled, time in air, etc.) into a proprietary algorithm to decide if the ball was hit hard, medium, soft.

I think they do a good job, but I don't have a problem with stats like WAR either.
You're wrong. BIS has a program that measures distance and time for balls that are hit. So not really subjective.

Yep. Then it puts the data into an algorithm to determine quality of contact.

I think it's great. But if you think WAR is subjective, you won't like hard hit %.

What else would you use it for?

The chick in the ESPN booth doing the Yankees / Red Sox game just mentioned exit velocity on Hanley Ramirez's hit.

Maybe she has special access to top secret information.

Actually, yeah. The ESPN broadcast has access to all of the data.

Maybe you can hook up with her and get all the info you want.

Example 1000 of where BL makes a statement, and when you ask him to explain, he can't.

Or he got distracted by a Tec comment. We know he can't quit him.
