BL's problem is that he has an obsessive-compulsive need to turn everything into an argument.
Clearly, the point of this thread was that sometimes the way you make outs matter. Advancing a runner into scoring position on a ground out is better than a a strikeout. Advancing a runner from second to third, or scoring him from third on a sac fly, is better than a strikeout.
But rather than just agreeing to that, he digs a hole and jumps into it headfirst with his "strikeouts are just a different kind of out" and "over the course of looking back over an entire season, how outs are made doesn't matter", etc. bullshit nonsense.
If he had any self-awareness, he would see that this kind of behavior is what makes him look like the biggest idiot on the internet. And poking him provides great entertainment.
Well, a) we’ve had this argument like 7 times already. If anyone is desperate to argue about it, it’s you, the guy who has started multiple threads on the topic. Regardless of your desire to poke me.
B) I’ve said, several times, that there are situations where you prefer one type of out to another. But those situations are, in the context of all outs, rare. They also tend to balance out over time. I’ll say it again, because apparently you can’t read, most of the time, a strikeout isn’t any worse than any other out. Sometimes a K is a little worse (but on par with outs in play like pop-outs and shallow fly balls). Sometimes a K is better than certain outs in play (but on par with outs in play like pop-outs and shallow fly balls).
