2017 playoff eliminator Topic

I've found the Outback to be pretty interesting. A lot of hard hitting and energetic play on defense.

UCF is really putting pressure on the NCAA to expand to 8 teams.

I'm most interested in that one because I've seen a number of Michigan games this year but I just can't get into it. More bad offense than good defense and I just find that boring

UCF is a couple of plays away from blowing Auburn out. Instead just a 7 point gane at half

If I was doing a shot after every good offensive play for SC, I wouldn't have a buzz.

Mich/Mich St are on par with KY/SC.

How would an 8-team Playoff benefit the 12th-ranked team?

Because if they went to 8 then an unbeaten Group of 5 school would get in.

I guess after today UCF STILL don't belong in the conversation to many of you though...

I'd like 8 but, as it stands, a 2 loss team has never made the CFB playoffs. That indicates that the regular season does matter. If it was 8, 2 loss OSU/USC are in as conference champs. I guess the argument would have been WI/Auburn for the final spot. If it's Auburn, that's 3 two loss teams. And, with that, Wisconsin is raising holy hell. And people will begin to clamor for 16 teams. Then you may begin to say "12% is watering down? That's absurd!!!"
If you could point to any season where there were more than 8 teams who you could legitimately argue should have had a shot at the title based on their regular season, I will concede your point.

Otherwise it is simply a "slippery slope" type of argument that really holds no water.

Even at 8 Auburn wouldn't have been invited. This is the same faulty type argument as your other. No two loss team has ever made it, but if we go to eight, a 3 loss non-conference champ Auburn would get in? I doubt it.

There's no way they get in over Wisconsin. Even in the CFP final rankings Wisc was ahead of Auburn. No scenario puts a 3-loss Auburn in over Wisconsin. Possibly Penn St or Washington, but not a 3 loss Auburn.
Well, hell, you're demanding that UCF be included. Do you want me to point to a season where 8 teams were better than 2017 UCF? That's easy. Damn near all of them. I take 3 loss Auburn on a neutral field all day over UCF. My guess is Auburn would be a touchdown+ favorite.
How'd that go?

Considering that I hate Auburn, it went just dandy! Thanks for asking!

UCF was clearly the more motivated team and I am glad they won.

If anyone was watching though, justify the no penalty call at the end when the UCF defender picked up and threw the Auburn WR to the ground. I think the big loser of all these bowl games, besides the PAC 12, is the trust in quality of the officials.

Well the playoff game is more entertaining through like 10 minutes than the other 3 games were combined

I'm guessing Moranis likes offense.

OU's offensive line is dominating.

Clemson-OU is getting more appealing by the minute.
